I've done my research many times before on creatine and whether or not i should start using it and what it will do for me and my gains.  Well I took the leap today and took my first dose.. 5 g.  I'm not doing a loading phase because i've learned it is not worth it.  Anyways question is, How many weeks should I stay on creatine and how many weeks off?  Or if that is even necessary.  I've done searches on here and can't seem to come up with a solid answer.  Anyone who knows please help me out here.  Thanks!

No know effects long term at 5g per day.

Potential liver problems at high doses long term. (20 g/day)

ok didn't know that would be okay.  Also, should you take creatine 30-40 mins before a workout or just stick with it post-workout?

The point with creatine is saturation....to load up your muscles with creatine...research shows that if you mix that with lucose, fructose, or other simple carbohydrates (i.e. fruit juice) you load more into the muscles.

Do not pre mix creatine as it breaks down in solution.

More is not better, stick with the 2-5 grams a day.

As soldier noted, Follow the directions on the type you take.

i'm taking the creatine monohydrate in powder form.    Also taking it with grape juice.   Can you take creatine with a meal?  Or is it best absorbed on an empty stomach..?  Thanks

Get off that old out dated cheap stuff (MONO)  and come on over to the good stuff  Creatine Ethyl Ester...You take CEE you won't need as much because it has a better delivery system and more gets to your muscles and you don't need grape juice and all that crap..  I take 2.1 grams before workout and that's all I take,  I'm getting more Creatine in my system with just 2.1 grams than you are taking 5g of Mono...Sometimes less is more and less is better for your body then higher doses of creatine.  Put the Creatine where it belongs in your muscles... Not floating around all over the place bloating you.

With any Creatine I would reccomend you take it on an empty stomach. 30 minute rule.
