Don't go crazy it was a PR, obviously my butt comes up too soon and I gm'ed it the rest of the way but oh well, my squat is at least going up. I know I suck at squatting so be easy gents (and ladies). If you read my journal I was talking about how I ripped my boxers on my first attempt at this, I squatted this twice, but it really messed up my first attempt lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxDcy9S3oS

Just a few things I noticed: Yup, you definately GM'ed it after your hips made it up. At least you're using hip drive though. From that angle, I'm not sure if you hit proper depth. It's hard to say though. It seems as if you're leaning forward TOO much (usually the problem with low-bar squatters is not leaning forward enough. I know this.) You seem to be doing the opposite. You made 325 look easy though. That is the same weight I used for my video that I did 5 reps with, and I struggled with every rep. I have no doubt that you could do 325 for 5 reps!!! All-in-all, your looking damn strong. Good job!!!

Thanks bri, I might be leaning forward a lil too much, I'm still kinda new to low bars, only been doing them for a few months. Here is a screenshot of the bottom of the lift for depth clarity: I think I hit an inch or two below parallel but definitely could go lower. Either way squats are my worst lift, and I'm just glad I'm making progress here.

I saw this one on youtube the other night Mikhail Koklyaev's 310kg raw squat Thought it might inspire you too. It is a heavy weight but he manages it smoothly and still goes very deep. It helps to watch the best and assimilate their movements through principles of neuroplasticity, which is the brains ability to rewire and better communicate withitself. Its another way of learning when you dont have a coach standing over you.

yea misha is sick, I've seen that vid, he pulls a ton too. That is a high bar olympic squat though, easier to go deep.

going that depth with that much weight is definetly not easy. you cant say your squat sucks. i'm sure if you did squats like most people you would get 500lbs LOL.

LOL, they have always been apart of my routine, but I've had many obstacles. My squat timeline looks something like this: high school- did football squats aka half squats to please the coaches so they could post higher numbers on their stat sheets. start of college- Figured out what a real squat was and starting doing full squats with one plate and working my way up to around 330 in a year or so. Last year- Severely fractured my ankle and couldn't squat for almost half a year due to flexibility issues and pain. Just started doing them again about 3 or 4 months ago. But damn you are right, I bet I'd be deep in the 400's at least if I didn't get injured like that. Oh well, time is on my side.

Couldn't really tell from the angle, but it seems like you were leaning too far forward before you even went down. You should try an stand up a little straighter. You should also work on keeping your wrists from bending. Use a thumbless grip.

Damn I always try to remember to use a thumbless grip on low bar and I never do, thanks for reminding me though I never noticed how much my wrists were being flexed.

i did legs today and made sure to have good form, i was repping 225 a good 8 times for a few sets, Last week i did half squats for the heck of it, figured if i did front squats after, butt to heal, it would make up for it, getting 10 reps with 365 was a piece of cake. Today was hard though i made sure to drop below parrallel and will keep focussing on the good form. good video, I'm still impressed you did well.

Anything less then full depth is not a squat. It's an act of p***yness. People "tell" me they can "squat" 600 lbs., and that I'm not that strong because my 5RM is 325 lbs. I'd bet my left nut that these people can't actually squat (yes, that means all the way down) even 200 lbs. one time.

The bar sits lower on your back in a low bar squat that's all. There's advantages to it over high bar squatting, where the bar sits on your traps.

Yep, doing a squat with perfect, "if there is such a thing" or near perfect form is also an art.. As with cleans, it's rare you see anyone in the gym even close to perfect form. Deja---vu??

I sometimes get pain in my ankle while squatting but it is because I broke it not long ago. It hurts, though, because I haven't regained 100% flexibility in the joint. I am guessing that your problem is the same- flexibility. Stretch out your calves, ankles and hammies really well before you squat and it should make a big difference. The ankle support is not needed in this case and would most likely not benefit you.

Looks good chalky palm, definately looks like you broke parallel. I would just say try to keep your back a lil straighter on the way up. I must admit i dont think i've seen to many people go parallel when doing squats at the gyms i've been to. Most people either dont squat or if they do they only do 1/2 to 3/4 squats.
