^^^ Agree.  I am a member of many, many forums, of different genres (automotive, firearm, BB, law enforcement, wall street) and EVERY ONE OF THEM has a "general stuff" forum.  And they all have more threads and posts than the forum that contains the nuts of what the site is related to.

This was an extremely dumb idea.  I spent more time actually posting in OOB than anywhere else here.  If I needed specific training or nutrition info, all it took was a search to find it.  I rarely needed to make a new post to ask. 

Part of having a forum is social networking.  That is now lost here at DBB, making it mostly useless to most folks.

I don't have much of a need to come back now.  If I do, I can search for what I need.  The social aspect of this site died on 7/15/2008 at 10:00:00 PM.

I do now... but before.. no.

Marc had no say in this decision... it was 100% me. I won't disclose anything other then this... there are legal reasons as well as to why the section has been removed. Marc knows about some of the details but the decision was mine to remove the forum.

I'd consider bring it back but the correct rules and setup need to be in place. OOB is not a place any of us admins or mods want to police.

I'm not so sure it really "is" his site after reading his post.  He knew nothing about the forum being shut down until a day later, and he gets no $$$ from AdWords, supplements101.com, or Google search bar.

legal issues? how could there be legal issues besides maybe threats being made or something

In regards to making money, this site is not profitable.

The adwords and google search are mine. And links to supplements 101 are mine as well (I own that site). The money genereated from all 3 is not enough to cover the monthly expenses of running this forum (although since adding adwords it has gotten pretty close to the expense of operating this site). Google search? Profitable? Maybe $3-$4 a month. I left it there because I thought the average user would find it easier then the built in search.

Marc gets 100% of the revenue from DB premier. He also got 100% of the ad revenue when we used to sell advertising space on DB... but he got tired of dealing with advertisers so it asked to have it dropped from the site.

Marc runs everything on the front of DB... I pay the bills and make sure everything behind the scenes is working. I know I don't make any money from this site (although I hope one day that changes). I'm sure Marc makes no money as well.

Kris owns supplements101 so marc isnt gonna get money from that obviously.

I'll tell you what. Create a new thread in this forum with your ideas on what the forum rules would be and how it would moderated. Make notes on rules that would be good to have and how the rules would be enforced. "Anything goes" is no longer ok. I'm ok with you guys chatting about random stuff... but not everything. No posts of almost naked women (you all know who did this recently)... no talking about how to "score chicks"... no talking about fighting... no talking about masterbation... stuff like that.

If you guys can come up with good ideas on how to keep the OOB forum around while cracking down on some of the BS that's been going on in there lately I'm all ears and willing to do my best to make you all happy. I do know that we've lost great moderators specifically because of the OOB forum. Also, our current admins and mods (most anyways) are tired of policing the OOB forum.

Hey man im in full agreement with you here, i have never posted up pictures of that material, i only ever stated how i hated masturbation forums and i got annoyed about the girlfriend threads too.
