You just came back from a long break.

Let's look at the list of mods...

3Days2Glory  Gone
8pack Seldomly posts
Andy Gone
cpl gone
danmirage Seldom
IBB seldom
Italianangel seldom
Lynx100 gone
Nic Back from break
Old Navy seldom
Rippedchick Active
Twin Peak gone

There really has only been ONE active moderator the last few weeks.

Exactly. I vote for more mods.

We don't need more mods, what happens if we get 4 new mods and then all of the old ones come back all at once?  Then we have 15 mods bouncing around.  We need to demote the inactive mods, and promote new members to becoming mods.

If you're a mod and inactive for 10 weeks, you should have your status removed until you come back, and if you're needed, you get it back, if not, then you're regular.

Great idea!

Yep. I agree with you guys, out with the old in with the new.

RE: wtf? - Wednesday, July 16, 2008 4:23 PM ( #155 )
so I guess a good question to the admins would be...

Why do we have so many inactive moderators?  It seems if only half of the inactive moderators would actually participate in this online community, it would greatly reduce some of the nonsense going on in OOB and the various other thread topics.

From what I've seen, it doesn't seem like it would be horribly difficult to make the inactive moderators regular members and recruit 4 or 5 of the regular members who actually participate in the forum and give them moderator access to the site.

What's the point in having a moderator that doesn't participate?

On a side note, it would also be nice if the owners of the site participated a little more....I know mark posts on occasion but I rarely see a post from Kris. Why is this?

If the moderators and owners were active on this site I think it would make all the difference in the world.. that's just a personal opinion.... right now it's kinda like a 7th grade classroom without a teacher....

Why would anyone go to the trouble of having this site, not make any money and never participate.... doesn't make any sense..

I've invested money in lots of things I love that didn't generate a revenue.. but point is I love or loved doing it.. I was under the impression the admins had a passion for this site... show your passion for this site and become more involved.. it will make all the difference in the world

Please be speciffic.. speaking for myself I haven't slammed any moderators.  You bring a good point when you say, " some of us do a lot for you guys that you never even see."

But my point being is.. some of the moderators we never see... you're about the only one here that actively participates in this forum..

I don't think anyone expects any moderator to participate at the level you do.. but for God's sake.. if you're going hold the title as a moderator on a site, at least post and be a part of it..

I know if I owned a site such as this one, I wouldn't want to have half my moderators not participating actively on the site.  Didn't they actively participate when they first joined.. Isn't that why they became moderators?  Am I missing something?  Or is it completely normal for someone to be active on a forum, and then once they become a moderator to never participate?

If I offended you I'm sorry.. mainly because I like you and it's clear you have a passion for what you do, but it's hard to argue the fact that we have a bunch of moderators that never post or interact with the other members..and I can't possibly see how that is good.

Reason to bring back the Out of Bounds section... This thread complaining that it is gone is 12 pages long, DBB threads rarely go 12 pages.

Just to give you guys an update... I will be updating the forum software over the next couple of weeks. With this update it adds a feature that allows all users to report bad posts. With this feature, you all can help police the forums. If someone posts something attacking another member (or yourself), there is no need to reply... just report the user with a click of the mouse. We can set up the software to give them a warning or temporary suspension after a certain number of reports have been made about them... as well as banning them completely. The new system will also allow you to give credit to good posters... so new members can easily see which members are the most helpful (instead of going by post count which means nothing).

When this new feature is added I will bring the OOB forum back. There will be new rules and a lot of the BS that used to be allowed will no longer be tolerated. But if you want to get to know each other and have some fun I don't see that as being a problem.

Please note that this new OOB forum may not be permanent. It will be a test to see how well everything works and make sure all you guys can help manage it on your own.

I have a lot of changes I plan on making around here at DB and they should be implemented within the next couple of months. Please... if you have any ideas at all please post in this forum (not this thread) so I can review your ideas and possibly add them to the site.

The bold part could cause problems.

Say persons A-Y don't like person Z.  They could all just report him, and then BOOM person Z is slammed with a temp ban.

I think a subsection for us to put our clutter should be up until this new update comes out.  To keep the regulars here.

Ahh..I hate reps and negs...this might as well be BB.com.

Then you have people whoring themselves for rep points. So lame...

BTW, tons of people with high reps at BB.com are morons.

You should rename the site "lilbodybuilding.com"

I like twisted's proboard idea... I just registered over there and realized a lot of you guys did too. Why not just keep this site completely informational... and we can talk about our other life stories over there?

I'm a part of another forum where it's basically anything goes... and I love it. It's such a fun community... my interactions there are very similar to hanging out with my real friends. I argue with my friends, I make fun of my friends, etc and at the end of the argument, everything sorts itself out and its back to normal. Granted we can't do that here, sure... but what we had was PERFECT!! I don't wanna log into the other forum at work, just cause it was in fact anything goes, but on here... it was such a perfect community to hang out and talk about "whatever" (obviously not whatever literally, but you know... a lot of random stuff).

I actually don't even know what kinda policing was needed that caused such a ruckus, what I saw was NORMAL human interaction to be honest... and when it crossed the line Bobbi or Nic were always there to lock it, case closed, move on. I can understand some of the pictures of those women fitness models might have been a bit spicy, but girls in bathing suits aren't anything new to anyone on here. They could have been edited or deleted had we known that was gonna be a problem... and it was deleted so problem solved, right? Apparently not? The OOB forum was the perfect passtime for regular members who share same interests to go and hang out while not reading up on good infomation or answering silly questions about biceps and NO-XPLODE!!

Anyway, I say we all register on that forum twisted created and stay active on both here and there. I don't see a problem with that as long as all you regulars went over there. Specially bobbi, wuv youuuuuuu ripped.

You just came back from a long break.

Let's look at the list of mods...

3Days2Glory  Gone
8pack Seldomly posts
Andy Gone
cpl gone
danmirage Seldom
IBB seldom
Italianangel seldom
Lynx100 gone
Nic Back from break
Old Navy seldom
Rippedchick Active
Twin Peak gone

There really has only been ONE active moderator the last few weeks.

I like your idea but the thing is, seldom doesnt mean we do not moderate :)

We may not post(you can see) as much as we used to but we are always here moderating(you can't see) and you guys have no idea how much stuff is moderated because its gone right as it comes and you never get to see it.

I dont really see the need to get more moderators. One might help. To be a moderator, you have to really stand out to us. Everyone you see on that list is unique in their own way and started moderating because they contribute in their own way.

One regular I personally noticed that would be right for OOB is Twistedlink. Gets along with everyone and I mean everyone, and also is very active(very important when it comes to OOB)

Then again thats if the Admins decide we need a new moderator.

Why is ripped the only moderator that is currently active on this site? Didn't you join this community because you enjoyed posting and reading here.. Why become a moderator and dissapear?

I dont really see the need to get more moderators. One might help. To be a moderator, you have to really stand out to us. Everyone you see on that list is unique in their own way and started moderating because they contribute in their own way.

How can one contribute to an online forum if they're not active and never post? Contribute to who, the site owners?

The reality of the matter is, we have a bunch of moderators that may or may not delete a post on occation but the fact is, they seldom to never post and contribute anything valuable to this forum.  Again, there are a few like Dan, ONavy and IA who post on occation but I don't really consider them traditional moderators.. they are here more as experts in their perspective fields and when they do post, it's usually answering something related to their expertise..

It would seem that the owners of this site would realize that... Having active moderators that are known by the members and respected can make all the difference in the way a community such as this functions..

Why continue to have the title of moderator if you no longer have a desire to be apart of something?  As I said earlier.. there are at least 5-10 members here who are passionate about bodybuilding, post daily and actually enjoy doing so.. Why the admins haven't approached some of the people is a mystery to me.. cause it seems like such a waste not to take advantage of their passion for this site..

If you and several of the other mods no longer feel the need to post and be active on this site with the regular members.. maybe it's time for you all to step down and turn in your moderator badge..

The last public post you made aside from today was back on 2/25, the one before that was on 12/12 of last year.. That's assuming you had no posts between those dates in OOB that got deleted.. How can you or anyone else pretend to be a valuable part of this community with a record like that.. You might be serving the admins but you're certainly not serving the community..

It doesn't take a special person to press a delete button.. but it does take a special person to post here day after day trying to help people.. such as Ripped and many many other members do..

Think about it..
