what everyone has said is right

-the OOB is for us who got tired of answering the same question a thousand times
-its for us who somewhat "knew" eachother and wanted to talk. no ones going to do that seperately with members over PM. i can see it now, Yet emailing us all seperately about his night yesterday..i tell twisted what i thought about it and he tells brihead what i think about Yet.
-Kris isnt even around here, why the hell is he moderating it
-most regulars will probably leave or at least become MUCH less active and we'll get the same dumbass questions over and over. did you see that one yesterday about whether you should eat breakfast? wtf how many times does that need to be answered

All of those are good points.

If you can tell me how we could add an OOB forum (or something similar) while limiting the personal attacks and making it so us admin's and mods don't have to police it, I'm all ears.

That's the thing.  Tell me one forum that doesn't have a moderate amount of jackasses roaming around and trashing other members.  It will happen to some degree, no matter what you do.

But deleting the OOB section is just pissing off all of the regulars here.  Sure, it will cut out some "personal attacks" and whatnot, but not get rid of it completely.  It is what you have to accept when joining a forum.  To me personally, this has been the cleanest and most respectful forum I have been on.

Deleting that section has made this site of very little interest to me now.  Until it comes back (hopefully), I bid everyone farewell.  Anyone that wants to chat, hit me up:

Yeah...I mentioned in the board i made...dbb is the cleanest forum ive ever seen....sure sometimes someone gets pissed off...thats life quite frankly, and its frequency is much lower than other forums.

Ive seen forums so hostile newbs are treated like punching bags, and in some forums its a fun sport to just say how newbs are posting wrong etc etc and say how theyre retarded etc until they leave.

This place compared to other forums of same popularity and member count is the cleanest ive seen

RE: wtf? - Wednesday, July 16, 2008 6:51 AM
really though some of hte topics down there(even if it is Off topic) shouldnt off been brought up int he first place based off of how this is suppose to be PG or what not.  i think that the OOB should come back however make it known about rules regarding the forum.  tell people to keep it a little more on the PG-PG13 side than r rated.  i say try a trial perod with new rules in place for OOB and if it doesnt work then pull it for good.

Im sure everyone on this forum is more than capable of creating a off topic section that is toned down a bit.

love you guys...

For those who are going to leave : adios !

For those who are going to stay : don't worry, OOB section will one day come back. Don't worry, help or redirect the newbs and enjoy.

For those who wants to pay to open their own community....feel free to spend YOUR OWN MONEY and SET YOUR RULES...

RE: wtf? - Wednesday, July 16, 2008 6:55 AM
Ah, i see the tactic now

Delete OOB so all the regulars who liked the place just for OOB leave, after 3-5 months of them regulars not coming back from deletion of OOB, open it back up, and have the members who liked the place for training and nutrition to post there.

One flaw...thats how the site began, with no OOB.

Deleting OOB to bring it back again is just postponing the inevitable.

Some topics shouldnt have been bought up no...however i for one am happy in stating ive never posted any above PG13 sexual references, and that i may swear sometimes, but its asterixed, and quite frankly if a 12 year old reads **** and knows what word ive used then nothing has changed really.

If anyone wants to stay in contact my details are on page 2.

RE: wtf? - Wednesday, July 16, 2008 7:22 AM
you got it all wrong twisted, that's the problem with smart people...they tend to think too much...

I said maybe it will come back one day, maybe it won't. It's not my job to decide if it will since I found out like 15 minutes ago it was deleted.

Also, blame me, blame the admins, blame the mods I just don't care anymore. I found out my LIFE was MORE than a single bodybuilding forum. I enjoy doing more than being a unhappy member in a unhappy community.

That's the same everywhere, people come, people leave, you are free to do whatever you want, leave or stay.

It'll just be sad losing one smart kid like you who understood physics, chemistry and lots of stuff related to this bodybuilding forum.

RE: wtf? - Wednesday, July 16, 2008 7:26 AM
Im not blaming you, sorry if it came off like that, i knew it had nothing to do with mods.

Does marc even know about this decision?

He hasnt made any posts or announcements on the matter...

True a forum is only a small aspect of our life, i for one have work, education, a partner etc etc and i understand this forum is of little importance to my life.

But i as many others do, feel it as a portal of community.
Its just a ice way to spend a relaxing night in after work, talking with some members, having a joke and laugh.

And sure a debate comes about...but meh...we live through them, and very few personal attacks are formed.

Im not gonna lie ive had my fair share of debates, but even someone of my standards (very low LOL) has only made a handful of truly nasty remarks, and they were mostly way back in '06 when i was a little uppity.

I felt OOB was performing much better post 05 and 06....maybe that was just me

I understand why, do I think it is a mistake for the health of the site, yes. I basically agree with Brihead301's posts.

I did like the community aspect.

I don't have any other people in my life who bodybuild and this place is an important part of my training (psycologically).

I have my journal so I will still be around.

I will sorely miss the support of my friends in OOB.

I also think that I helped a few people over the years with a few of my better OOB posts.

Support systems The hard way lost today...

more than likely... 1 boy friend
definately... my favorite employee who resigned yesterday (he actually did his job, and I liked him, he was my friend)
and now ... all my OOB friends

Anyone who wants to can keep in touch through my journal.
I'll still be around, but I will at least do more of my job, I guess.

That I agree 1000000%
Not my decision. I will simplify my life to a certain point...

Why not having this forum for bodybuilding since it's all our passion to a certain level.
...and have you forum for OOB stuff...we can manage having two forums don't we ?

RE: wtf? - Wednesday, July 16, 2008 7:38 AM
its weird..i mean in one sense it's not (or shouldnt be) a big deal. its just a forum and to be honest as far as everything besides the OOB t-nation is a lot better and i've been more active over there the last few months anyway.

but still it's disappointing in a way because like twisted said i liked coming on here for the "community" when there wasnt much else to do, not the training/nutrition, and now that parts pretty much gone.

ah well off to t-nation!

edit: oh yea at least we have the contest for now but thats about it
