this is a complete joke. this forum has become pathetic.. i for one certainly dont come here for knowledge considering most of the members around here are guys around 140-50 pounds  i come here because theres a decent sence of community thats all this forum has really ever been able to provide for longer term members.. i for one will not stay active on here, to read the same ''HEY IM 130 POUNDS AND MY BICEPS WONT GO OVER 12'' WHY?'' questions. im prity sure most of the more established members wont either. therefore even fewer people that actually know abit about getting bigger and stronger.

can someone use there URL history to try and enter an OOB forum, i was dumb and deleted my history before logging off yesterday so cant do it myself

If a message appears saying you need to login to a different account etc etc, its merely been blocked by the admins, and not fully deleted, if it comes up with "page cannot be found" then its definitely been deleted

RE: wtf? - Wednesday, July 16, 2008 5:25 AM
This thread doesn't need to be in the training section... it needs to be in the "Feedback and Suggestions" forum. (I moved it).

This is a bodybuilding forum... and we want the topics to be about bodybuilding. If you have personal information or story's you wish to share with others you can either PM each other via our site our email/IM each other what needs to be said. The OOB forum is causing too many issues and isn't something that is needed in a bodybuilding forum.

If you're not happy with the decision and would rather join another forum you have the right to do so. We can't please everyone on DB.

This decision had nothing to do with the moderators here on DB. In fact, I removed the forum and then notified them that it had been removed.

There are thousands of forums on the net. You joined this forum to talk about bodybuilding and fitness... so lets keep the topics about bodybuilding and fitness.

Many of you make it sound like all of us (admins and mods) at DB need to have better rules and to police those rules better... but you do realize no one is getting paid right? DB makes no profit... so it's not fair to ask us to police the forums even more then we have been. Almost all of the issues us admins and mods have had to deal with have been due to the OOB forum.

I'm certain we will lose members because of this decision. But in my opinion, if you're truly here to learn and help others about bodybuilding and fitness, you won't leave DBB because there isn't an OOB forum.

If you have any thoughts on how to improve the site or ways we could bring it back in the future (or anything to bring more of a community aspect to the site) please feel free to email me directly (kris@discussbodybuilding.com). I will read any email sent my way and reply within 24 hours as well with any thoughts I have. This site is here for you guys... but we're not a site to talk about anything... we're a site to talk about bodybuilding and fitness.

Because if there isn't an OOB section then no one but newbs will remain? This forum was much better back in the day before the OOB forum arrived.

Like I said, if you're not happy with the decision and you'd rather not post here anymore that's your decision and there are tons of other sites out there willing to give you an OOB section to post in.

RE: wtf? - Wednesday, July 16, 2008 6:02 AM
This sucks.  The thing about OOB is that most people get tired of answering the same old questions day in and day out.  EVERYTHING has been answered about nutrition and bodybuilding before.  By searching through the stickies, and reading all old posts people can learn all they need to know.

The seasoned members know this, and they still try to offer advice from time to time, but EVERYONE gets tired of answering the same old questions like "How do I get bigger biceps?".  Therefore most of the truly knowledgeable members hang out and chat with each other in the OOB section, because there's a whole community of people that share one common interest.  They still frequently check the other sections of the forum to see if there are any truly relevent questions that are worth taking the time to answer.

Ya, sometimes we talk about non-bodybuilding related things, but we all do share that one commonality so most of time the OOB threads are directly or even indirectly related to bodybuilding.  Even things like, "so there was this girl at the gym today....."  would be an example of something indirectly related to the lifting.

Also, because there's a ton of nice people on here that all get along with each other (due to having things in common with each other), most people feel comfortable asking some serious questions or starting serious discussions about thier lives that they might not want to talk about in real life with their friends.  Sometimes it's easier to talk about things with people online because, well it just is.

And even when the discussions aren't about serious subjects, they are usually just fun topics to talk about.  The OOB section keeps the forum intersting.

I'd like to think that I'm helpful to this forum when it comes to topics about training, but I too get sick of answering the same questions over and over.  I still always browse through the other sections though just to see if there's anything that I can add my input to, but when there's nothing to talk about in those other sections, which is usually the case, then I then head to OOB section.

That said, I think this forum is going to get pretty boring and a lot of great, knowledgable members may slowly start to disappear.  I see myself being one of those people that just stops showing up because there just won't be anything to talk about anymore.  But maybe I'm wrong.  Maybe I'm the only one that feels this way, and most people will stick around and talk strictly about bodybuilding and fitness.

All of those are good points.

If you can tell me how we could add an OOB forum (or something similar) while limiting the personal attacks and making it so us admin's and mods don't have to police it, I'm all ears.

RE: wtf? - Wednesday, July 16, 2008 6:14 AM
I have my needed information, and quite honestly see no point in trying to explain concepts to people who wont follow them, wont reply back to the thread half the time, and are simple questions a search can use.

The mods and admins made it a RULE to use the search function before posting for THIS REASON.

So lets look at the logic.

They now want all newbs to search for the answers to there questions which is the case 99.9% of the time
They also want nothing to be off topic of bodybuilding.

If newbs arent allowed to repeat questions (ergo deletion of thread) and we have to stay on topic, i estimate a post count of about 5 per year that wont get deleted.

Its pretty retarded to enforce the use of a search option but also expect us to mindlessly answer stupid questions all day that only require a search function.

Also what is this massive "problem" about OOB?

its been stated there have been certain issues with it, im sure if you asked most regulars 95% would say they love our community and enjoy many members, so...whats the problem with OOB?

Obviously some members here have complained about the place and somehow its ended in a masacre unto extinction.

while limiting the personal attacks

deleting deadlysuperstar certainly fixed most of that.

I have rarely seen a truly nasty hurtful personal attack, obviously theres been debates and there are two or three groups defending themselves, but ive rarely seen a post (apart from deadlys) that made me think "woah...thats harsh"

Honestly, I think that most people are generally nice people, meaning that most people don't go around attacking other people for no reason.  It's just like in real life - most people are generally good natured.

No matter what you do, and no matter what rules you try to enforce, you will always have some jerks.  This goes for any public forum, and it goes for basically anything in life.

What I would do, would be to just give the people that cause the problems maybe two warnings, then delete their account if they continue on wither their ways.  Eliminate the few that cause these problems with the OOB section, and keep the rest, so it can continue to be a fun place for all the good people to talk.

That's my suggestion.

It is funny to see everyones post count now. Expecially yets, which was like 6000, now down to 1100. lol.

haha i just realized that. now i'll never hit 10,000

i agree with everyone else, horrible decision. i used to stick around for the nutrition and training section but to be honest the info there isnt that great. i pretty much just stayed on this forum because i knew some people that i talked with in OOB. i'll probably stay for the competition like phersan said but i cant see me any other reason to stay

RE: wtf? - Wednesday, July 16, 2008 6:25 AM
The problem with that brihead is where do the attacks start and not start?

Ones innocent remark is anothers offence.

See...I clearly remember saying offence is an annoying human made peice of drivel, if no one got offended and laughed off any debate this wouldnt be happening @_@

weve all argued before guys, at some point, at least twice, so two warnings or not, wed all be deleted.

Thats why theyve deleted OOB, theyre fed up policing the place and finding ways to police it without being totally nazi about it, in the end they couldnt think of anything so deleted it.

If they truly enforced there rules, half of us would be deleted by now.

I think people just need to chillax more, its like "oh my god, someone over the atlantic disagrees with me, i must now make a massive deal about it"

Its a bit...pathetic...
