Okay whos 3rd in command?

Yeah i already knew deadly was deleted, i dont think deadly has much to do with the deletion of OOB though...I mean...ruckuses are caused all over the forum.

Maybe deadly haxxored this site, deleted OOB, and made it all out to be Kris, afterall deadly said he was capable of that kind of stuff @_@

I would be surprised if he could operate a can opener. After the comp I think I'll leave I think we should join together the members and make a new more laidback forum.

It would be one thing for them to lock the out of bounds but why did they have to delete? at leaset if it was locked we could still look at all the old stuff.

well me and wyrms had a chatty poo on MSN and he also is gonna do the contest and just "go home" as it were lol.

Id be willing as im sure many others could make a proboards forum, but theyre slow, and annoying, and they have proboard mods check your boards every now and then.

Il probably come here every now and then and dole out some advice, but yeah, much less internet traffic is going to enter dbb.com now

RE: wtf? - Wednesday, July 16, 2008 4:03 AM
I've got a great idea.... Instead of deleting the OOB section, why not have a set of rules and actually enforce them.

That seems to be the whole problem.  We have rules here but they only apply at certain times and on certain people.

this whole silly decision about deleting an entire section could have been avoided if the rules were followed and if someone breaks the rules.. delete the thread and if it continues, warn the person and if all else fails, delete their account.

I'm not sure if it matters to the owners of this site, but I would guess that around 50% of the current members will be finding another place to post...

This was a radical solution to a problem that could have easily been solved with enforced rules and and moderators that actually moderate..

What's the point in having a moderator that's never here? No offense intended but that makes no sense..

Kinda like taking a job but never showing up to work..but still keeping the title..

RE: wtf? - Wednesday, July 16, 2008 4:20 AM
Have you seen the rules smoundzou?

Stay on topic.
Please post only messages that are relevant to the subject of the Online Forums.

Smoundzou, you would be deleted by now along with nearly everyone, including the mods

Discuss Not Debate
We understand that debates can be very contructive but for the purposes of this educational and support community, we'd prefer to keep topics along the lines of discussion and not flat out debates.  Too often, debates begin constructively, then turn argumentative and then destructive, so please have discussions, not debates.

wheres the difference between disucssion and debate?

Too many times a discussion has been deleted or locked as a debate, and full blown arguments have just been ignored, i dont really want my membership here to be deleted for discussing something, but outright arguing would be ignored, seems a tad dodgy.

No obscene, racist or sexually explicit language posts are allowed.
It's best to stay away from religion and politics as well.  Personal attacks are not tolerated.  Sexually explicit posts will be removed as this is a forum for all ages. We reseve the right at any time to ban, remove, delete any posts and/or users who cannot obey this rule.

All joke posts with our usual sexual banter will be deleted.

What i find funny is i think Nic was the one to hold down this massive sex rule for the younger members, then lynx (another mod) came back, and blitzeth was mentioned and were talking about having a giant male orgy like they used to and making references to oral sex.

In the past week OOB had many sexual banters, we'd have all been banned/deleted

Yada yada blah blah.

If they enforce rules, people will leave from soviet russia esque treatment.

If they delete OOB, it just solves everything.

Quite frankly id rather have OOB deleted than be pruned in what i can do and say, because thatd just cause more arguments and posts about things being too strict.

Facts are its a public forum thats getting extremely popular, as with all forums it can no longer sustain a perpetual regular member community in which we have free reign.
Marc I believe wants this site to be a massive success and not have his forum full of random load of rubbish, remember he is PAYING for server space, and its not nice to tread all over the place and act all high and mighty.

I dont agree with the deletion of OOB, but id rather that then a rule stamp down, because trust me, as being a member of many forums and hosting my own (not the one i made a hour ago) members get thoroughly annoyed at rule stamping...Because in the end, discrimination DOES occur, and in the end someone will get screwed over.

Does this thread in this section mean that this section is the new OOB?

RE: wtf? - Wednesday, July 16, 2008 4:29 AM
Doubtfully, theyre not just deleting OOB, check around the place, theyre deleting pretty much anything useless.

Take it from someone whos been forumming for years now, dont speak out of line, you will probably get deleted @_@

"When admins turn nasty"

hahaha

seriously though, sometimes admins just have a massive "**** it" approach and go deletor happy, im not saying marc and kris will to any members who speak rather strongly here, but keep in mind that it is possible.

RE: wtf? - Wednesday, July 16, 2008 4:31 AM
Well it appears by all indications that the rules need to be better defined...

You bring up some good points.. but I still think with good moderation, (consistent moderation) it would be possible to lighten up on some of the rules a bit..

I don't know much about server space these days but I do know that it's nothing compared to what it use to be.. and

Driving traffic to this site and keeping them here is the main objective.. isn't it?   So I doubt the cost of maintaining this site has any relation to the amount of traffic that is in the OOB section.. I"m sure the server fee is a flat monthly rate.. if it goes over that amount of BW in the package.. the site simply doesn't allow anyone to access it.. At least that's what I would think..

I just think there could easily be a happy medium.. with a little effort from everyone..

RE: wtf? - Wednesday, July 16, 2008 4:35 AM
I agree that the rules should be re written maybe, but its hard to keep a happy medium for everyone....

A lot of people do say in threads "Im offended you said that"

but they come back....
At the end of the day OOB may have had arguments, but it never distanced members, i mean, ive had arguments with loads of members, i dont hate them or treat them different, quite frankly if im having an argument with someone in thread A, and a "general banter" thread appears, say Thread B, il be perfectly nice and normal to them in thread B.

I dunno i just think discussions and debates are fun...

And to be totally honest, i was a lot worse in 2005-06...You cant see now as its been deleted, but ive certainly calmed down a lot in the past year and a half, still debate, but i rarely (if never) make personally harmful remarks.

Neither do most...yes sometimes debates can end up offending a general group...but eh...thats life LOL.

Fair consistent moderation is a pipe dream personally...

RE: wtf? - Wednesday, July 16, 2008 4:39 AM
Oh i know the traffic doesnt change the payments etc, and sure the payments might be nothing extravagant, but put it this way smound, say you worked a 9-5 job, came home, logged onto your site you pay for (despite it being whatever the cost) and all you can see is getnswole acting retarded, kingyoto being weird, yet posting funny but useless junk and making a 95 page thread with one worded answers, twistedlink debating something, coldfire eating newbs all the time, deadlysuperstar making unneeded picture uploading, and other members just generally chatting

And you WANT it to be a public success.

If you want to impress another company to sponsor you, and your workers are behaving like us, youre gonna be pissed, its the same deal

I think marc wants serious recognition by serious trainers etc, and if its full of people making rather childish remarks or fighting all the time, it makes marc look bad.

Im just trying to look at it on the point of view of the admins...

RE: wtf? - Wednesday, July 16, 2008 4:46 AM
TRIPLE POST FTW!

However i have realised something.

Premier members are in a sense share holders of the site, you have helped keep the site running with your money, and therefore you should have (if only small) a say in what happens.

Im not saying you lot suddenly own the place and can lay down the law, but i believe as donators you should have some small says, that are reasonable and that can be compromised....
