RollingStone http://www.tmuscle.com/...out_while_getting_leaner Just another thing ive found showing why high fat diets are the best for cutting up. I completely disagree with anyone who says you should keep carbs up on a cut. Its just incorrect and doesnt make any sense. Hey dieters! Stop eating carbs, youll be glad you did. Ill probably post some more good articles on high fat diets. I have been on these boards for a few years, I have been researching nutritional databases for years, and I have read a few books. I checked on the studies mentioned in the article, all checked out. I'm buying this book, and this is probably the best thread ever posted for me to date. RollingStone, you're at the the top of my list right now.

I have since e-mailed the author of the article, Josef, as well as inquired about Taubes' contact information.

im sorry but im kind of confused I saw something earlier about almond meal... aren't almonds fairly high in carbs like 20-30 grams for a cup (crushed?) or is it the fiber or something idk?

most of the carbs in almonds are fiber. the almonds I buy per ounce have 5 carbs and 3 of those are fiber. So I could realistically get 680 calories from 4 ounces and only 8 net carbs, plus all the good fiber to help pass all the cheese you eat.

Almonds have 18.7 carbs for 1 cup (ground). About 11.2 of those carbs are fiber, which doesn't count toward your total. That leaves 7.5 net carbs for 3.4oz, which is quite a lot of almonds btw. You wouldn't want to try to live off nuts on a keto diet, but most people can fit in 3-5 oz (or more) a day, no problem.

I recently tried almond meal. I think it is awesome, I've made pancakes with it and replace sugar with sweetner and they are very nice. Highly recommend it!

how about bulking with keto, guys? I am reading an article where you carb up every fourth day or so.

Perrynaytor how about bulking with keto, guys? I am reading an article where you carb up every fourth day or so. bulking on keto seems kind of pointless and not very efficient. If youre worried about fat gain it would probably be better to bulk with carb cycling.

I agree with RS, carbohydrates are the most important nutrient for exercising muscles, you wouldn't want to go low with them (especially on exercise days) during a bulking phase.

I'm guessing carb cycling would probably better, yeah. I was going to try either Titan Training or Big Beyond Belief, so I may need more carbs for it. I got a week before I hit the beach and I am currently at about 8-9% BF right now. If I used water manipulation in conjunction with keto for these next seven days, would a dry 6-7% be optimistic? I have an odd body that loses and gains easily. Somehow I actually lost body fat last week on vacation, but I think it was because of my activity levels. I did high carb for 4 days and low carb for 3 days or so.

Creation Hey rolling so what during the week you eat no carbs or lets say less than 30g each day then on say sunday you just grub hard on carbs? You can start with that yes, but I think anyone who does this diet becomes more in tune with whats going on in their bodies and how the macronutrients effect you. You can start making your own little adjustments when you understand these things. Thats why I think this diet is so good.

Just wondering, is it better to slowly adjust yourself to a keto diet rather than jump straight into it, seems like going straight into one could have shock concequences?

You really should jump right in so your body adapts to the macronutrient shift as quickly as possible. The consequences will be mostly a lack of energy (probably for a couple weeks); that's just something you have to deal with. You might also suffer from various vitamin and mineral deficiencies if you're not careful with your diet and supplementation.

I've just finished day one on this and the idea is to run it for 12 weeks. Don't feel sluggish yet but could do with some carbs real bad, still we must abstain Creation.

I almost vomitted reading that. Dude, you should have had tuna with mayo and a couple of swigs of olive oil to knock it down instead of blending all that together. Back on the topic of bulking with keto though, I know I have brought this up in other threads but now I am seeing a lot of folks having great results bulking with keto because of the growth hormone and the carb up on the weekend.
