do all your curls one after another. don't do one set then do ll the other body parts and then do two sets again. do biceps and finish bicep. and if you do incline curls then you should get some results. i dunno maybe you r cheating in them. i used to cheat all the time when i did incline curls and realized that in my last workout. let your arm go all the way down to the side. and you may want to squeeze, purely optional though. remember just do the perfect form. let the incline go all the way down and lift it without moving your body or lifting your head.

hope this helps.

good luck.

Read all Jeromes posts.   Getting ripped - is not the exercise only -that is fat reduction. if enough fat is shrinked from the body any body ...... will look ripped . The funny thing is fat comes off slower than it is put on.  And womans -  put on fat faster than a man do.

hi Swiftpaw. this is my first post here, but here i go....

I'm 22 now, but wrestled in High School when I was your age. I was far more ripped then then I am now, but I had some other things working for me... Testosterone as you mentioned, plus i was a BMX racer, and played football in the fall. so i was ALWAYS pushing it cardio wise, and started hitting the weights when i was 15. so by 16 i was really getting there.

How long have you been at the weights? Muscle development will help a lot in burning fat. not because fat turns into muscle though, don't get confused. a lot of people do...
I would raise the jog to 2 miles, keep at the weights, and watch nutrition.

as far as bulk, shape, size etc....everyone has a different body structure. if appearence is very important, you might try to figure out what your body structure woud look like toned, find a celebrity or body builder with a similar shape and work towards that!

Oh, don't you worry sweetie! You will get the guns you so desire!! You are so young and you're still growing. It will take time. I'm 25 now and I started lifting when I was 19. During that time my bi's grew 2 inches (from 10 - 12 inches) and they look good now. I'm still not completely happy because I always want more! Being a girl it's practically impossible to get "huge" unless we're on some type of steroid, which I HIGHLY advice against! Anywho, I've noticed that I haven't changed size in a long while, but I look a lot more cut. I keep gaining on lifts too (slowly but surely). I would up the protein and keep some in every meal you have. Egg Whites, chicken, low fat turkey, tuna in water, salmon (good fats), and protein powder are all good sources of protein that you can consume. I eat a lot of cottage cheese too (be careful, some people can't handle dairy). Just keep at it and DON'T give up! Girls can gain muscle, it's just not nearly as fast as a guy. I look feminine still, but I get a lot of comments on my "guns". It's amusing though because they look bigger than they really are. That's where diet (lifestyle) comes into play. The lower percentage of bodyfat you have, the more "ripped" you look. Don't drop weight too fast though, because then you lose that precious muscle! Good luck and I agree w/ the others...more structure w/ your lifting. Keep reading too. Also, do you ever read Oxygen magazine? It rules and there are some beautiful female competitors in there w/ BIG GUNS! :) Good luck!

you may be doing to much cardio = loss in muscle mass
possibly look into increasing your caleries to bulk alittle more

umm  the females in body building.. the ones who have arms like men chest like men legs like men...  Do you want to be a man?  have you heared these women talk?  I notice every single time when i hear one of them they sound like a 16 year old male going through puberty or a He/she.  Think about what it is you are saying?..    And if you really want to take that route thats fine  get some steroids once every year or two  take them 3 months out of the year  take some anti hormones.  and then in your fifth year of training take a good look in the mirror and realize that you have taken male hormones to become a man.

I think the best looking thing on a woman is when her arms are cut  her whole body chizzled  perfectly cut.  You will never in your life have 18 inch arms..  and 16 would be nasty looking  i think 13 - 14 and ripped might look really nice though.

yes that true.  Without taking steroids, it is impossible for a women to gain as much muscle as a man. Your workout looks fine, maybe try eating more meat, and up your protein intake.

I big part of it has to do with genetics too! Genetics, diet, and your intensity levels in your workout.... I am 22 I have roughly been working out since high school, but... in the past year training  for bodybuilding.... I have gained so much and still am! I went from 12.5 to 13.5 in bis and my legs have gained more mass than I ever expected... But then I ate right, trained hard and let my body do the work! :)

Hey girl. I've been here on DB for a couple weeks now, and I just noticed this forum. I've been over in the guy section, lol

I already said a lot of this over in the guy camp, but if you want bigger arms, I would think that you could have them. From what I've been through bodywise over the years, and the last 4 months when i finally decided to train with weights, I can tell you this;

Even though I'm 5'2" 125 pounds, I was totally puny my whole life. Soft and cuddly for my husband, but so weak and frail. I never played sports, never exercised, never left the couch or my pack of smokes except for my 7-3 job. Things changed drastically over the last 4 months, because I decided to join my husbands gym. When I got there the first week, I was gonna follow the other girls, watch what they did, and do the same. It's because I couldn't afford to pay the trainer guy. I started watching the trainer with women, and it didn't take me long to feel like they were wasting their time. Pink dumbbells and rubber bands. I tried it too, but it just didn't challenge me. So I did what I think YOU should do too if you want bigger arms. I followed the men. I asked my husband to let me train with him, and it was the best decision I ever made. Yes it was very hard the first 3 or 4 weeks, but it got easier. I started off with very poor weights. I was curling 10 pound dumbells lol  I could only press 10's over my head, and I was leg pressing with only 1 of the 45 plates on each side while all the guys were putting 4 or 5 of them on. Even the very puny guys could do 2 or 3 plates, and they could use 20's to curl with easily.

Now it's 4 months later. Everything has changed. I trained 5 days a week, took the protien shakes, did the cardio, and nevr missed my workouts. Now I curl with 25's for 10 reps (without having to lean backwards), I leg press with 4 plates on each side, I can press 35's over my head 8 times for 3 sets, and my rowing with the cable went up to 140 from only 60 when I started. All my lifting went up a lot. When I look in the mirror now, I can't believe it's even me. I'm hooked. I'm addicted. I feel hard as a rock now. lol  But if I had joined the gym and followed the other girls by curling pink dumbells and stretching those rubber bands I would have quit when my body didn't change and my arms and legs didn't grow.
(I did keep the pink gloves though, lol)

Don't be affraid to pick up bigger weights just because you're a girl. I wish you the best of luck. Go for it girl!

Just for your info Tawny, this post is a year and a half old.

The girl forums don't get much activity around here (there aren't many of us). It is sad but true.

It is nice to see another real women posting on these boards.

I didn't realize that, lol

But the fact that the post is a year and a half old and the person still hasn't joined a gym or even figured out a way to get some home weights says a lot. I don't mean to be judgemental, but why do people stay here if they aren't going to really work towards perfecting their body? I'm confused, lol

If I stopped lifting I would leave and go do something else, but if I stay it's only common sense that I will try to make steady improvements in size and strength and how hard I work out. I will hold myself accountable to move forward OR I'll just throw my gym bag in the closet and watch TV again. It seems strange to be here 18 months later still talking about wanting to get in shape someday?

Oh, one serious question-

is this a bodybuilding and weightlifting forum, or a girls on diets kind of place? I got the impression this was about a bodybuilding lifestyle?

The last post here was Febuary 2006. So she's not around, there just have not been enough posts since then in this particular forum.

This is Female bodybuilding, so it is Bodybuilding, but since there are very few women on this forum, and training and diet for the most part is just like the boys, there is not a lot of activity.

But if you have a female specific question than this is the place for it. Or if you just want to post  for a predominately female response, here is the board.

At my gym (I finally wised up to the fact that strength training requires me to either a) buy dumbells/barbells/what-have-you or b) join the gym, and b seemed more fun) there are the free weights all neatly stacked: 5kg, 7.5kg, 10, 15, and so on...and then you have an honest-to-goodness bucket which contains the ickle pink and yellow and blue weights. Which really told me everything I needed to know.

(Mind you, I'm still having to use the little 2.5kg ones sometimes, but I'm working on it!)

No, not many women around here, but those of you who do post are very inspiring. I especially love your signature, thehardway, and have adopted 'Real Women are Strong' as a motto for all aspects of life.

I'm a total wuss right now

Me too! We can become less-wussy together.

I have discovered that my most favouritest exercise in the world is the lat pulldown. I have no idea why, I just really like it.

(Then again, I want to fence (currently leg strength is letting me down) so many many squats and lunges feature prominently in my routine.)

Yay to not being a wuss!

I just caught this , it is a bad day for me but that made me smile.

I propose a toast, to the end of wussyness!
