i read two articles which promises good gains after 6 weeks of doing the program. 1 article says that you should do splitting like monday chest tri, tue back biceps, rest, thur legs, fri shoulders, rest rest.. all with compound exercise..

the other article says that you should train 3x a week.. in each day you should train all your body parts and each workout should be done in only 1x 8-10 but the lest rep should be a failing one (where you put all ur effort in lifting it)

which program will I do?Smile

Neither. They both suck.

Take a look here for decent routines (especially Rippetoe's routine).

well, one cannot really say what sucks and which doesn't. Programs like those are created for the convenience of the user. If you're free most of the time, sure, split it up. But if you do not have much time, you can cover it in three days a week...

All programs work to be exact. Its just which one works FOR YOUR BODY TYPE, YOUR COMMITMENT LEVEL, AND THE TIME YOU HAVE to achieve what you want.

I can say that performing one set to failure (the retarded H.I.T training style) sucks, especially for beginners, and is a great way to get injured.

I can also say that for most people who train for performance (or even looks, if they train without steroids) body part split sucks also. This style of training evolved from steroids abusing bodybuilders.

Sure, all programs work for beginners. Some just work better, build a better base for further safe and effective training and give a sense of how program your training.

Whatever makes you happy man. I wasn't directed to a 'beginners' point of view... I guess you're very qualified to say those things then..

You are in beginners section.

And these methods were proved to suck for most people. No world class athlete trains this way.
