work them in a routine that allows you to keep your stability and when the abs arent sore, while people with no body building education think abs are different to other muscles, it is not, it still needs rest to gain, and weight increasing exercises to gain. Find a routine that allows your body to work twice without being sore while doing it, simply, i would suggest against doing it at night or before going to bed, when i have done exercises, i usually have a 30 min warm down by just walking around stretching, and believe me it helps a lot, first time i went to the gym i didn't do this and was, VERY stiff, i still get sore and stiff obviously but it does help a lot and doesnt allow muscle kinking etc. Going straight to bed means the muscle might cramp (never had ab cramp, but any muscle can cramp, my neck has cramped before, feels REALLY weird) Light weighted sit up im GUESSING is where you do your usualy sit-up but hold a light weight dumbell while doing it, i usually have a 6-8KG dumbell when doing this (6-8kg=12-16lbs ish), it lowers your reps, and is harder, but like i said, the abs are like any exercise, put strain on it, and itl gain

I would say so yeah, always try to give muscles a 3 days rest, i prefer 1 week rest for every muscle i train on, but abs usually do have a lot more endurance and can be done twice, some people even do light/medium workouts every day on abs if you work them hard though, give them rest, you dont even have to base your routine with 1 week max 1st week monday-work abs sore til thursday friday-work abs again 2nd week abs are still sore this monday, from fridays workout tuesday-work abs saturday-work abs you can do it like that, in a cycle type way, as long as you have every day free for a workout, you shouldnt really need more than 30 mins for abs i wouldnt think....
