i technically started april 9th , although its been nearly 4 months , id say the first 1.5 months was trial and error , i didnt have a set routine , and when i did , it was kinda floppy but i worked it out , when should i switch it , now? also whats the best way to switch? not do any of the exercises i do now anymore , or can i just swtich the order and maybe throw a few new ones in.. for example for chest i do first bench press ( only used barbell for a month before this i used db), then butterfly machine , then incline bench with DB , then i sometimes use the seated bench press machine afterward/.....but like 3 weeks ago i started also doing flat flies with DB and today i did incline flies with db. but this is just the past month i started throwing the extras in , it before that was always BP w/ db, incline BP w/DB and butterfly machine. typically 3-4 sets , to 6 , just realized to gain size i need alittle lights and to go to 8-10 so would i wanna take maybe one of those outta there and use another exercise to replace it and then rearrange the order i do them in or what? and how long should i do a routine before switching

whoa im abit skeptikal(spelling???) it only took you 1.5 months of trial and error if you've only started on the 19th of april to really find a proper routine for yourself. i'm also pretty sure to gain weight/strangth you need to lower reps whilst increaseing weight as i've learnt from these forums. maybe you should stick to a routine for at least 2 months than change to another to see which routine gives you better gains, and do you only work on chest?

Work your legs. No excuses. You'll make little progress without at least stimulating them to release that huge boost in testosterone. (Excuse my horrid spelling)

i work everything i was just using my chest as an example , but i still dunno if i should change the whole routine or just one or two exercises per muscle and then re-arrange the order i do them in

Post your entire training routine in detail. As for changing your routine you can change it when: Your gains stop or slow, you get bored, you just want to try something new, you can change iit every 4-8 weeks.....ect.

what about aleternating between two routines every other week , for example for chest i do , bench press with BB , butterfly machine , incline with db , incline flies with db , what if i did that one week , and then the next week did lets say , cable crossovers , decline bp , andflat flies? so im confusing my muscling by alternating between the two every week , would that work , has anyone tried that?

The 2 routine thing is a good idea. But using the same concept, your body would eventually get used to it. When changing routines, you dont even have to go as far as using entirely different exercises. Simply changing the reps/sets/days will suffice. However new and alternative exercises for a muscle group are always good. Theres lots of ways you could go about doing it. you could do something like. Week 1- 5x5 Week 2- 4x8 Week 3- 10,8,6,4 Week 4- 5x10 or simply do your same routine for 2-3 months, then switch it up. Take a week off and start a new one. for your example, I dont know if you know but the chest is broken into three area's upper, middle and lower. So when switching up for chest make sure your doing exercises on chest day to hit all areas.
