well if you, bench270, are referring to me? I can prove my strength. I can invite anyone on this board that lives in columbus OHIO, to come to a local YMCA and work out with me. Any weekday.

ORIGINAL: Bench270 Hey big mike. if he was my height, and his so called build, he would weigh in at 4 lbs more than me, so your saying that you could notice 4 lbs on a guy, if he and i were standing beside one another? I think not!! I think you could, 4 pounds makes a difference, but i mostly see it on fat people. I can tell when a fat person losses 5 pounds when they are 300 pounds. Juts like when someone gains 4 pounds of muscle his arms could be bigger, his chest bigger, and so on depends where he/she gained the weight.

you know what i realized guys! We have story lines all screwed up. Somehow things got jumbled between the 163 lb kid and thompsonA. I am saying that 163 lbs at 6' is skinny, then big mike is saying someone else is stronger then me. But I don't care really. so what i am saying is that, 163 is skinny for someone who is 6' even at the age of 16. ThompsonA, I have no probs with you man!! Big mike, you can probably lift that much, because you are a big boy!! If you were under 200 and 17 and claiming that weight, i would call BS! later boys

ThompsonA, your strength does seem....high for someone your weight, but i have seen my 220lbs friend struggle to lift 100lbs on bench, run faster than most skinny tall kids who stereotypically run insanely fast, like you said anythings possible. Out of interest thompson, do you use absolute correct form? only using chest to lift the bar up? or do you just lug it up there in any way possible you can?

its hard for me to use perfect form when doing large weights. When I do 135-205 I try to use the absolute best form and no legs. When I max out or do 245+ my form greatly weakens and I sometimes use my legs.

When you say its hard to stay perfect with high weight, that means you cant be doing the high weight. You need to perfect the excersize than increase the weight WHILE doing the excersize perfectly. This goes for every excersize that you do, wether it be benching or powerlifting.

Id say the most I can do while keeping my form correct is 225. after my warm up If I were to jump directly to 225, I'd do it 4-6 times with correct form, then the last 3-4 anyway i can.

well thomson if you want to go into powerlifting-do what youre doing If you want to increase that bench, do what bigmike said, keep correct form, if you dont work the chest then your bench will increase slower, but still its a damn impressive weight! I try to use as little supporting muscle as possible...

I cant say that, thats a good way to think about the bench. Have you ever heard of this:::- i do it and i like it alot. I usually only do this for bench and military press, but i think you can do it for most any compound excersize. http://www.strengthcats.com/pyramidpower.htm
