Sorry, protein is a MUST HAVE for gaining mass. You need to consume anywhere from 1.5 to 2 grams of it per pound of body weight, depending on who you talk to- But it's a basic building block of muscle. Without the proper protein, don't expect much in the way of gains at all. There is no supp out there that can replace it. In fact, most of your protein consumption should be from solid foods like chicken, beef and fish for example- But protein shakes are invaluable in the sense that when you have to eat five or six meals a day to gain, a protein shake along with a snack can be more convenient to use for one or two of those meals rather than preparing six full solid food meals a day. Besides, right after a workout, your body really needs it- And a protein shake gets into your system a lot faster than solid food does. This is really the only case where a protein shake is better than a solid food meal.
My advice- Drop the weight gainer, pick up some protein powder, and concentrate more on the food you eat rather than the supps. There is no supplement out there that will magically give you mass without having a good basic diet in place first.

so, wait you just have to consume the 1.5-2grams of protein per body lb for protein shakes or in total (including food)?

I would say that 1.5-2g of protein per bodyweight is wrong. I am a big guy, don't take in anywhere near that amount of protein because it's unnecessary. Your muscles are about 40% protein, the rest being water and other things. To put on 10lbs. of muscle a YEAR, all you need to do is have a 16 calorie a day increase over what your BMR is, of course it needs to be the right foods (not just krispy kreme), but low fat or the whole low carbs if that's your thing.

One of the biggest problems people have with gaining mass is that they give themselves inadequate time to heal from a workout. If you are currently working out the same musclegroups M-W-F, switch it up. M do all your bench, back. W do heavy legs. F to biceps, triceps and shoulders. Abs everyday (they are a large musclegroup), calves every other day, they are hard to grow and grow differently than every other musclegroup I've ever made larger intentionally.

Before you change your eating habits to something potentially very expensive, take a look at the way you exercise and decide if that is really working for you. Most of the top guys, even though they're on all the vitamin S, usually only workout a muscle group once a week, it is obviously for a reason.

I also don't think that creatine is the answer. You should be able to build up to the endurance creatine will give you in the beginning naturally. I was on for a year and when I went off, my workouts didn't change or go lighter, I actually got stronger and bigger faster. In the beginning it'll help though with your muscle energy in the later part of the workouts. Then again, if you're lifting more than about 45 minutes a day, you're wasting too much time in the gym.
