My opinion might not be what you want to hear but at 13-14 I would rather play some sport outside or be more in my school thing than being in a gym lifting weight. BUT if you still want to lift some weight, start with light weight and concentrate on good form. Don't go heavy, be careful and have someone like your older brother of even your father close to you.

Oh ya I also meant to ask what would be some good exercises to do, I mostly want to get thinner and not have fat on my chest. I weight 120-130 pounds and I am 5’ -5’ 3” and according to my school I am 13% bf and a web site says I am 16.5% bf (???) please help I atleast want to be healthy but adding muscle would be good to because I am going into 8th grade and I get kind of embaresd in gym as it is.

Pullups, chinups, dips, pushups (with variations like elevated, diamond, and so on), situps, and very light weights will help you build a good foundation for later. You might want to consult a doctor about anything more than that.

I would recommend purchasing a Total Gym or Boflex. With the total gym workout program you can see results within the first two weeks ITS AWSOME

No Prob. I'm 14 and my gym has been showing results for me. However, muscles can develop at anytime from a large range for guys. Based on my "personal" experience, i was able at school to start lifting at 13. and my dad had a total gym and i got it out and started using it. The total gym is great for just one or many people in your family. Talk to your parents and they will help you find an answer

I don't want to be rude, but there is a time for everything, at your age, play some sports, be active outside and eat right. You'll save money and you will enjoy the summer !

You can weight lift at any age. What you do need to do is get instruction from an expert....not just some kid you know who seems strong. All you need right now is to do the basics. So here is a list and a link that will show you propper form, I will also list the order in which to do them. Monday squat 4x10-12 reps SLDL 3x10-12 reps standing calf raise 3x10-15 reps Tue. Day off Wednesday Bench press 3x10 Incline press 3x10 military press 3x10 tricep extensions 3x10 Thurs. Day off Friday Dead lift 3x10 reps Dumbell rows 3x10 Lat pull downs 3x10 curls 3x10 Sat and Sun Off This is just a basic traing program idea. http://www.exrx.net/Lists/Directory.html
