what happens after the goal - Friday, July 27, 2007 8:04 PM ( #1 )
Heres the quote: (Since I have been back from college I have already lost 15lbs, some fat some muscle. It's sad really. It's mainly because I haven't been eating as much here at home as I was up at college. I decided today however that I am going to kick it into high gear and start eating again!!!)

say i start having a nice diet, nice trainig program and once i achieve my goal i just stop having that diet and training but i would still eat healthy, can u really lose muscles? is this kid talking sh*t or is it true. will i still have to eat 6 meals ,have protein shakes and everything to maintain the muscle ?

depends on how much muscle ur talking about but if u wanna look better than average u gotta do more than average. most likely yes u would lose a significant amount of muscle. i stopped training for 4 weeks and lost 5lb. of muscle

This kind of stuff depends on bodytype. If ectomorphs do lots of lifting and hard eating then suddenly fall off and eat **** on a couch all day, the lbs will peel off.

Once you reach what you want, you find the caloric intake that doesn't make you gain or lose weight, and you continue to eat balanced meals, just not nearly as anally. You also need to stimulate the muscle groups so that your body won't see them as extra flesh that it doesn't need. 1 or 2x a week is good.

No quarter : thanks for the answer i was kind of hoping that u could just keep what u had made in a certain way. like once i was done lifting the weights i would done once and for all. but i guess muscles is like everything else on earth u can't just have it u have to maintain it.

and david1991. i used numbers as exemple. yea we can use the 10 as lbs. of muscle.

still alittle confused by what ur asking but to keep ur muscles ur gonna have to work them, not as hard maybe but u need to give them a reason to stay cause ur body doesnt actually want alot of muscle

thx david that was actually what i wanted to know. in other words i though that once u were done working out cause you got to you're goal that you could just drop the lifts for good. but as u and No Quarter told me if i just do that the muscle leave cause he has no reason to stay in the body

You gotta eat your maintenance requirement of protein to maintain muscle.
You gotta eat 5-6 meals a day to keep your metabolism up, but this isn't a compulsory thing, I'd recommend continuing to have 5-6 meals after your goal if you wanna stay healthy or if you're an ectomorph.
Your body will still peel off muscle if you don't stimulate the muscles, your body won't keep what it doesn't need, my suggestion for people at that point would be to do one full-body workout once a week.

- What kinda stuff would you buy? lol

dunno, not that i'm not social but i dont know if i could stand around 1 hour with a gym full of peeps. anyway:

what are gyms prices . i heard there were different type of memberships? out of 200$ per week i take off about 50 of it right away and then i buy stuff like clothes or w/e. so lets say 100 a week is that enough for a gym. and what are differences between memberships

for 40-60 dollars a month, you can get really good gyms depending on the type of membership you buy.

that is, if you make a 4 month membership you would probably be paying around that range per month.

it also depends on the area, quality of gym and the kind of memberships they offer(long term commitments are usually cheaper).

RE: what happens after the goal - Monday, July 30, 2007 6:24 PM ( #19 )
Key factors

1. Has the equipment you need. The more of these the better.
2. Quality and quantity of gym-goers. Avoid places with kids, fat old women camping out on a machine for half an hour, and hardcores that are overly rude or disruptive.
3. Price.

See if you can drop in for a day and give it a go.

Yeah, pretty sure you can.
Last year when started doing gym (only did it for a month, lol) i paid $10 (Australian) just for the day.

So i don't see why it would be any different.

Depends on the gym. My town has 4 gyms and only 1 won't normally let you drop in for a day.

Most gym's offer a free 3 day trial, some offer a free week trial.
