what do i do? - Wednesday, July 01, 2009 1:29 PM ( #1 )
ok so four weeks ago while doing skull crushers, i heard/felt a pop in my elbow. Wasnt exactly painful until the following day.( saw the doc two days later, got xray and told soft tissue damage yada, yada, given script for naproxen). first two weeks, was all ice, heat...now i can bend it. When i go to the gym i go do all pull lifts just fine. However i cant hardly do anything that involves push. For chest all i've been doing for chest is flys. shoulders i can do raises, but obvioulsy no shoulder press... i cant do any bench, db bench which is killing me....what else can i do for chest shoulders and tris that dont involve push. I can do stiff arm pull downs which gets tri secondary....someone help.

"Pull" lifts involve the flexsion at the elbow (biceps).

"Push" lifts involves extension at the elbow (triceps).

You obviously have done something to your triceps. Go tell your Doctor about your experience.

i described the movement to the doc and he sent me for the xray. with my right arm extended, with elbow facing down, its behind the inside bone(hope that makes sense) just got back from lifting and was able to do bench on smith machine, adn got up to 110  before severe pain so made some prgress.

Pc2761,
I don't know what your insurance covers and whether the doc you mention is a specialist, but I'd see a sports specialist, find out exactly what the problem is, and get some therapy.  Best of luck to you!

Agree with JMBS.  See someone who specializes in training-related booboos.

In the mean time, find a pec deck.  It's no replacement for bench pressing, but it may help to keep your chest from shriveling up while you heal.

I'm so paranoid about getting injured.  The thought of not being able to train makes me sick.  All the best wishes for you, pc2761!
