what I'm doing before and after workouts - Thursday, August 28, 2008 8:14 PM
I am a little confused on what I should be consuming before and after work outs.  I take Casein Powder with L-Glutamine right before I go to bed.  That's usually 3 or 4 hours after I've came back from the gym.  I take N.O.EXPLODE before workouts but  it says to take that stuff on an empty stomach and so I do but I don't know if thats right because I feel hungry.  Then after workouts, I take muscle milk and add some other stuff. Could I buy a big thing of whey powder instead of buying MM?  I just wanna start getting bigger.  What do you guys reccomand I take before and after workouts?

Well here is a good outline:
60-90 minutes pre-workout havea  carb and protein rich meal
10-20 minutes pre-workout take the No-xlpode
during the workout have a simple carb or something with a high glycemic index rating
immediately after workout take whey or muscle milk is fine
45-75 minutes after eat a full meal high in protein

Thank you, I will try that.  Now as for the simple carb, like Gatorade or mineral water?  I wanna consume something healthy.

You didn't outline your diet so IDK but it sounds like you're trying really hard to base your diet around things that should only be supplementing it...

anything with sugar in it really gatorade would be fine

Meal One:Oatmeal(milk, almonds, grapes), eggs(two egg whites, one whole egg, onions, 1/4 avacado, bell peppers), and a cup of quinoa.

Meal Two:Whole Grain begal, fat free cream cheese, fat free plain yogart with mixed berries and grapes

Meal Three:  Salmon burger (whole grain bread, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, mustard, miracle whip)

Work out

Meal Four: Shake (muscle milk, 1/2 cup of oatmeal, mixed berries, 1/2 banana, 1/2 fat free plain yogart)

Meal Five: Right before I go to bed I have a casein shake with l-glutamine.

*My meal three sometimes is brown rice, chicken, and a sweet potato.

IDK if your cutting or bulking, but you are not getting enough fats, well you do in your breakfest with avacado and eggs, but you may want to throw in nuts, pb or fish oils to change things up...
gatorade just makes you fat, and doesnt take 60-90mins to digest i think.... fruit is an option but gives more of a rush effect, water doesnt have carbs, i have a protein bar pre workout

everything looks good, i would add some almonds to meals 2 or 3  because it seems you might not get enough fat.  you dont need gatorade or anything "sports drink" loaded with crappy sugars durning your workout  water will be fine, but you could eat a banana or something during it if you want.  gatorade wont kill you though, i just think there are better options.
