i take a weigh gainer. mines a gnc 1850. its works well. but i have to watch what i eat because one of those shakes is like 3/4 of my calorie intake. if your wondering if a weight gainer is right for you then consider this. i take a weight gainer not just because im small (if you think 180lbs is small) but because i dont eat a lot and its hard for me to get the right amount of carbs and protein in my diet to keep me going. For example, when i try to get a lot of protein in my diet i overlook how many carbs im getting and i just wear myself out. and vise versa. so you should take a weight gainer (in my opinion) if:
  • you want to put on some extra mass (but you really dont specifically need a weight gainer for that)
  • if you have trouble balancing carb and protein intake
  • if you want more protein and carbs in your diet

also i wouldnt recommend you replace a lot of meals with a weight gainer because thats just too much for your body and it will all go to your gut. i would recommend taking it after workouts as like a post workout meal kinda thing because you get the protein your muscles need and the carbs that will fuel your body so u dont feel worn out as much

i really hope this helps

ya i was thinking the same thing if 5000 means 5000 calories (which i think it might) then thats way too much. you might want to try something around 2000

i wouldnt recommend weight gainer just out of personal experience, its not lean mass, its sloppy water weight, makes you (or made me) feel lethargic and unhealthy

so u guys r thinkin no weight gainer? cause right now im wrestling at 160lbs(end in 2weeks) but im normaly like 166-169 lbs natrually. i wanna get up to about 180-185 after the season. i only have about 9% body fat and i dont wanna put on fat/sloppy weight, i wanna put on solid mass. im pretty good with eating, my diet is clean, and i work at vitamin shoppe so getting supplements is no problem w/ the discount. you guys think i shuld just go with a ester creatine nd whey throughout the day and casein or a muscle milk at night would be better then supplementing a weight gainer in the morning or post workout? thanxxx

i've taken weight gainer for years
if you work out often or have a high metabolism or your very active
you can take it and gain good size/weight
but take to much and youll get fat(er)
i'd go about 2000 caleries
start off with 1 shake for a while
if you dont see any size adding go for two shakes
i do pre workout and post workout
