ive heard alot that u should take off for a week from all exercise every 12 weeks or so of consistent working out. for me this is the same week as christmas and i plan to eat alot on christmas. the only thing im wondering is does this week mean absolutely no exercise? like obviously walking around is fine but should i not be running even? cause i was thinking about doing something the next day after christmad so it doesnt all turn to fat.

4 weeks off per year minimum from heavy weight training. During that time off cardio should be kept up as well as stretching to keep your body from losing previous gains. Keep up with your supps, except pre and post workout stuff, like NO and creatine.

ok, when u say cardio would keep ur body from losing previous gains u mean fat loss improvements right? not muscle gains right? cause if anything more cardio would make u lose some muscle i thought. also i will definitely take into account what u said but r u sure b/c ive heard from other ppl to do nothing during this time except stretch i guess so ur body can completely recover and then u will come better .

I don't mean for you to kill yourself with cardio, just keep your body moving, a little everyday, maybe 30 minutes of moderate intesity cycling or treadmill. No kickboxing classes or anything like that. It is rest time after all.

all right thats good i guess. i havent really done cardio in a long time. i run but i do HIIT cause i know it raises ur metabolism much better and u get much more done in less time. so ur saying instead of that i should just do like moderate steady-state cardio for like 30 min. right? and also r u saying to do it every day during that week? cause ive never really heard of doing cardio every day, i normally do it 3x a week.

Minimum 3 days a week. I do at least 30/day even on BB days. But my metabolism would lose to a snail in a race. Some people need extra cardio, some can do without it.

oh i just found something from dan mirages article "The more frequently you do cardio, the quicker the body adapts and the LESS you get from it!!!!! Be sure to take 1 full week at least every 2-3 months doing NOTHING!!! In addition to other benefits, this de-conditions the body so that when you come back your body is more responsive again. When you come back, start your training at 30 minutes 4x week and moderate intensity with a new type of cardio. "
