Soccer is the hardest team to make in my school and i need to be able to run like 3-4 miles (in good time, like 7 mins each mile)to make the team. any advice? i jog 4-5 times a weeks (one mile) but how can i increase it? one mile is hard enough. Ive been running for around a month

Run the full 4 miles. You wont gain 4 mile endurance doing 1 mile each time. Keep doing 4 miles, twice every week, and try to gradually lower the time taken. Start slow so 1 mile doesnt totally kill you, remember 4 medium fast miles is better than 1 fast mile and the last 3 being very slow stitch endured jogs. 1 mile per 7 minutes isnt too bad...I've done a mile on a treadmill in like 5-6 mins before....How much do you weigh?

Just read youre 105lbs, im assuming youre either rather short (like 5'4" or something) or extremely annorexic lol. I think your main problem might be the fact that each step you take is smaller than the average step, meaning you have to put in 50% extra work to get the same distance as someone with bigger strides.

I also found doing interval training helped me greatly to condition for soccer. If you have access to a good treadmill some days you'll want to do a short warmup (4 min), and then follow by cycling 1 minute fast pace, and then 30-40 seconds at 2/3 that pace. Say you're running your fast pace at 7.5 then run the slower at 5. Do this for 10 intervals and slowly build up to more intervals. On other days I did build up intervals. Start again with a warmup and then start with a jog adding .5 to the speed interval every 30-40 seconds until you hit a speed that is quite difficult. After you hit the high speed drop back down and stay at a slow pace for 1-2 minutes before starting again. (For Example: I start at 3.5 for a warmup, 5.0 for 40 sec, 5.5 for 40 sec, 6.0..... up to 9.5 for 30 seconds. Then I drop back down to 4.5 for a minute or two before restarting my cycle) I'll do this for at least 2 cycles.

thanks (i am short 5'4'' exactly) see one to three freshmen make the team and you MUST be fast AND have stamina (i have one or the either at the same time) Its like 2-3 miles but i wanna get to running 4 miles because it definitely helps doing extra. but 1 mile is hard. i run outside (laps in local park) and i do jogging (on highest incline) on treadmill my calves like tripled since ive started but i really have like 5-6 months to go. any ideas how to build up to 3 or 4 miles? like add a 1/4 mile (one lap) every week or wt?
