veryyy frustrated.. - Monday, June 23, 2008 1:00 PM
Hi.. i am 16 years old, ectomorph, 150lbs, on my bulking mode. For few days.. i been making meal plans and showed it to my mom for her to cook it for me.. she doesnt believe freaking SH!t that working out 3 days a week with balanced diet works at all... my parents are one of those typical asian parents who think you just need to eat those asian food to be healthy.. they dont even know anything and they keep telling me it takes years and years to gain a decent body.. i have no way to convince them that methods from this site works and now that i cant rely on my mom.. i need help on figuring out a way for me to chunk up some clean 3000 calories consisting of 20%protein/65%carbs/15%fat. I really want to gain 1-2 lbs a week.. but i just have no clue on how i could make simple meals that has all the stuffs i need.. examples would be great.. btw if i just eat eat eat eat anything thats clean.. do you think that will work for bulking?

If they don't belive you just buy your own food. If you don't have a job stick to cheaper foods such as tuna, chickpeas, and stuff that is cheap but will still meet your nutrional needs. What I usually tell my mom is to buy a LOT of chicken and either grill, bake, or fry it and put it in the fridge so it lasts a good week or so.

Damn, I will eat asian food every night. Rice, chicken, tofu, lots of veggies? sounds good to me. If you need more calories then eat more food, if you need more protein then drink a few protein shakes a day.

What does your mom normally cook? Surely you are in a better position then you think.

If you are 16, its time you took your nutrition into your own hands.  If your mom can't/won't cook the foods you want as often as you want, you are going to have to buy your own foods and do your own cooking.  I was like you and my mom used to do everything for me.  When I went to college I started to do everything on my own so after that I started cooking for myself and doing my own food shopping.  Check out that rules to bulking sticky for examples.  It will depend on your determination to go out and get healthy food and cook it if you really want to suceed.

When I run low or out of tasty food, I fall back on Oatmeal, fozen chicken breasts (skinless), Whey, Tuna, Salmon, fish burgers, etc. Its dirt cheap and tastes bland, once you make it passed a cup of oatmeal, you just don't want it anymore, but 2-3 hours later, you found yourself another bowl. :P

I'm thinking about chick peas but I'm not a fan of vegitables, though if you can eat them out of the can, I'm lazy like that...

If you like chick peas, get some garlic humus.  Humus is made from chick peas, its good for you and its delicious on some flat bread.

If it is healthy, high in protein and mostly complex carbs then you should be fine. The amount you eat will determine your gaining or losing of fat/muscle.

Surely they know something. It is a fact that it takes years and years to have a great physique.

Where are you from btw? I'm an Asian too.

That's so me. LoL. These days, I never eat the white rice she provides us. I make my own oatmeal. It's a much better choice of carbohydrate source.

I plan to cook myself too, so I'm trying to learn how to cook right now.
