Ok, so in my Spanish II class we are reading Don Quijote and we get on a discussion on helping people in need. Pretty quick a debate gets started (2 girls vs. me) about what to do. My view...I will help anyone when I can if they need it, I mean I'm known around school for helping people out. But I don't feel sorry for people that do nothing but depend on other people for everything just because they don't want to do any work themselves. And sometimes the best help you can give someone is letting them work it out on their own. "Give a man a fish and feed him for a day, teach him to fish..." you know the rest. It's tough love.

Well they completely disagree and say that you should always give a person whatever they need. That's the short version...but that's not the part I'm venting about.

One girl goes on to say, "Christian huh? I real Christian would always help a person no matter what. It's the right thing to do."

SmileSmileSmile

Ok, little girly...do NOT go there. That pretty much topped it off and I stopped discussing it, because I like the girl, she's a good friend of mine and I usually take care of her like a little sister ya know? But that crossed the line lol.

Now, I guess we could discuss the topic of helping people in need...

I chew glass and turn it into sand. I also train in -25° whether sometimes just to toughen me up. As an ab workout, sometimes I'll have someone beat me across the stomach with a wooden stick until I turn purple. I stepped on a nail once and liked it.

Hit her. Problem solved.

And I prefer the quote, "Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day. Give a fish a man, and he'll eat for weeks!"

Or even, "Light a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day. Light a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life." Smile

lol....Well obviously she's taken jesus' words out of context, yes, you should help someone as much as you can, and that is true, however like you say GR, sometimes letting them figure/do it themself is helping them.
