is it at all possible to make it so the user has complete control over what the layout looks like? like a section in their profile that they could go to to change between the layouts?

Yes... that functionality is built into the forum software... to an extent. We can create a bunch of different themes and from your control panel you can choose a theme you'd like to use. For now, I have other things I need to work on here on DB. But, in the future I will check into creating new themes. While an entire theme may be pretty far away, I could probably create different color designs that you could choose from (so instead of the background of the forum being grey, it could be light blue like it was before).

I spent some time and created a new theme for the forum. It brings back the old DB blue colors for you guys. Go into your control panel and go into the preferences section. Scroll to the bottom and under theme's choose "Light Blue." Save it and then the forum should be using the old colors we used before the upgrade.
