uneven pec, critique please - Sunday, January 25, 2009 2:53 PM ( #1 )
Hey guys, im 17 years old. 5"10, 160lbs. My bench routine looks like this:
Bench Press is about 155lbs for 3-4x8
Incline Bench Press 50-55lb db's for 3x8.
Pec Dec: 4x10 (alternate between incline and decline)

My left pec has a totally different shape than my right one. I don't think it has to do a lot with my genetics. I read that since my right arm is also bigger than my left, i use my right arm when i am benching as soon as my right pec becomes tired.

Anybody have any suggestions. It bothers me a lot and as my chest is getting bigger it seems to be getting more noticable.
Looking at my left side profile, the left pec looks chunkier (cant think of a better word) at the bottom/outside area of the pec. It looks a bit like it droops down. And the left pec completely overshadows the right one.
Looking at my right side profile, you can see my left pec.

Any suggestions?

No one is perfect.  My right pec is smaller as well.  It won't hurt you, just keep lifting, and don't bother training one side more than the other.  Train them evenly and it shouldn't get too out of proportion.

I would stop being so picky, I can BARELY see a difference.  I see what you mean somewhat from the side but honestly you are 160lbs, you can't expect to have great development at that weight and height.  Put on some mass and they should even out.

In the mean time I would work solely with dumbbells for your bench press, it will help you even out any deviations in your development.

I don't really see a difference.

Mine aren't even either, who really cares, they are about the same strength as well as other parts of my body but left and right side look much different.  You will be fine if you work both evenly.

There is barely a difference at all, I can't really see it.

Take it from a woman, you really only care about what girls think anyway.... right... I am gonna assume.

It is possible to be really disproportional... but guess what, your not!!! Your good, perfectly normal.

You don't have to worry about trying to even them out... You'll you probably wouldn't succeed, and you would screw up the rest of your progress.
