trying to make my own 3 day - Tuesday, July 28, 2009 12:33 PM ( #1 )
im trying to make my own 3 day full body workout for the season, so i can still work out and everything, im going to do a tues/thus/sat split since we have games on fridays and this would work out best for me

i kind of threw this together in a few mins, still gotta tweak it, and figure out the reps and everything, i was thinking tuesday i could do low reps, saturday i could do high reps, and thursday i could switch every week between low and high reps, still gotta lot of thinking to put into this, but this is just my blueprint so far

Tues-
Bench press
Hang clean
Push Press
BB Bent over rows
Deadlift
Skullcrushers

Thurs-
Incline Bench
Hang Clean
Deep Squat
T-bar rows
Barbell pullups

Sat-
Bench
BB Shrugs
Upright Rows
Deep Squat
Deadlift
BB Curls

all thoughts and suggestions welcomed, this is in its beginning stages, a lot of changes to come probably, this is my first time trying to make my own workout

Tues-

OH press

Sat-

I would probably recommend that from what you had, or something along those lines.

You have all of the explosive exercises for football. Cleans and squats, I would also recommend cycling a week or 2 a month where you drop the weight down to maybe 60-70% of your RM and focus on explosive lifting instead of strength, since this will be focused around football.

as in:

Week 1, strength
Week 2, explosive
week 3 strength (Progress up in weight on all your exercises from week 1)
Week 4, explosive (progress up in weight from week 2)

doesnt have to be. But most people do choose higher reps. Something you can lift hard but get maximal speed out of the lift.

Maybe look into programs like ME, RE and DE days.

I think 5x5 is always a good way to go. Maybe for the intensity stuff if you decide to do it go 4x6 or 3x8 something like that.

as far as exercises, 6 sound fine. Just make sure your doing more compound work then isolations, especially for football. I would keep every isolation to about 2 sets like I outlined above.
