im planning to purchase a cardio equipment.my goal is to LOSE FAT!!!!which do you think is better for FAT LOSS?a treadmill or an exercise recumbent bike? which is better for FAT LOSS: a.)hiit on the bike (this is if i purchase the recumbent bike) b.)jogging for 30-60 minutes (this is if i purchase the treadmill) i really like to run but i get shin splints easily(probably because of my cheap shoes -_- i should get better running shoes).i also like doing hiit on the bike rather than doing it running(i get nasty shin splints doing hiit sprinting).but everytime i do cardio on the bike it feels like its easier than jogging and this makes me think that im not burning as much fat/calories as jogging. which one do you think should i buy?HELP PLZ im planning to buy it ASAP because the store is having a sale!!!! ty
you like this site its s***.....but it's got mass appeal

Burning fat is mainly done in the kitchen, a big purpose of cardiovascular exercise is directly implied in it's name. Cardio is mainly used by many not to "lose weight" but by simply the benefits it brings to the lungs, heart, and circulation inside the body. How many people do you see walking and running on tracks that are still rather obese? Or how many people have you heard talk about how they walk/jogg everyday but can't seem to lose weight? The majority of cutting "burning fat" is done in the kitchen. I've always considered tread mills a waste of green Presidents and a waste of time, space, and energy. The best running advice I can give is to go outside and run. These treadmills you see on television that has you climbing up "burning twice the calories" can be done just simply jogging on a hiking trail or in the woods. Even downtown.

Bikes and treadmills are only fun if you watch something while you run/ride them. I'd go with the bike in this case though because you sit on your arse and do the cardio as opposed to standing up.

i strongly agree with rexs post and while cardio is somewhat important u wont lose anything first of all if your not creating a calorie deficit, but im sure you already knew that. As for which machine, id probably go with the bike. If your having problems with shin splints id go with the one with the least shock to the legs. I have the same problem, every year when football season starts about 2-3 weeks in i get horrible shin splints and im on ibuprofen every practice for the rest of the season...nothing i can do about it

I say get a real bike. One that actually takes you places. Its much more fun and its great exercise. I've been road biking for a year or 2 and it gives a great body workout, plus you get to enjoy the fresh air instead of a smelly room.

The obvious free alternative of the treadmill is obviously running outside too....

I prefer the treadmill. It just depend on the situation. For me, I have knee problems, so running outside is a problem and the treadmill provide some support on my knee. As for the bike, I have one where I ride it 3 times a week to the gym. My 2 cents

try to do different exercises for cardio to vary. I personnaly enjoy doing 20degrees incline treadmill, fast walking (speed 6)
