total sets? - Sunday, April 09, 2006 12:36 PM
right on muscletalk forum uk, i have read about the gaining mass posts and everything there

For muscle size the rep range is 9-12 slow- moderate pace/30-60 second rests / 3 -4 sets per bodypart / 4-7 days between---- here you mention 3-4 sets TOTAL but speaking to friends and viewing posts on that forum most people do at LEAST 6 total for chest biceps etc, some even 9 or even 12, however here is it classed and overtraining

which one is correct?

I do 9-12 sets per body part, 6-10 reps per set and 2 body parts per workout... As for which is correct there  really isn't an answer for that, trying them out and seeing what works for you is really all that you can do. Good luck!
1001, 1002, 1003. Ohh, it's a deep burn! It's so deep! Oh, I can barely lift my right arm because I did so many. I don't know if you heard me counting, but I did over a thousand.

Well it depends, if you want to bulk keep it at 15 sets, due to intensity

But for cutting you might have to add in couple of more since intensity is lowered and focus more on cardio

My total sets are 15, currently on frankie ny mass building routine.

Cats milk, off topic for sec, are you member of muscletalk. Just asking because Frankie NY is from MT, and gain tremendous attention towards his routines and advice just wanted to asks if you know who I'm talking about have you came across him?

muscle talk members seem ALL focused on 5x5 routines, however following danmirages post he says 3-4 sets total and 45 mins MAX in the gym

if i did 9+ sets on 8-12 reps it will be like 2 hours each time, i also thoughht that this was overtraining

what do you think?

your total sets are 15, is htis PER bodypart? or each workout

so 15 chest and bicep etc

15 total sets each workout my friend. 5 sets on chests and no sets on  bi's, don't do them.

I don't know don't want to assume but seems like your really not convince with number of sets and reps towards building size.

Give it try and you will see.

For me took me a month to actually try the routine and I regret not doing it a month earlier.
Believe me my friend you will get good gains both strength and size when done correctly. Don't modified or add any isolation exercises.

Stick with 4x6 or 5x5 scheme.
