After reading several artices on how good water is for the body I started drinking more water. I weigh 250..I usually drink about 120oz of water. I have been doing this for the past 2 weeks. My routine is mon/chest tri tues/back bi/wed shoulder/abs thurs off...friday little of everything...sat chest......i have gained weight and im certain its water weight. If they say to drinking alot of water will aid in weight loss(im trying to cut) is there a such thing as drinking too much. I was told once you start drinking an abundance of water, the body will release retained water..however doesnt seem to be working for me...cardio is out for another couple weeks due to other issues.....should i pursue taking some type of water pill??

i'm not a pro or anything but..no. don't take water pills. these pills just have a temporary effect and are mostly used by pros and the like to achieve a "drier" look. it will work.you will expel water...just water. but as soon as you start taking in water again, which you need to survive in God's green earth, you'll be back to your normal weight. My suggestion is... diet dude.. have a lower sodium intake, because sodium,as you know causes water retention. that is, if you are certain that it is just water weight. other than that, watch your calorie intake daily. what type of diet are you in by the way? and finally, cardio is really, really important. what are your reasons for not doing cardio? do you have leg or knee injury? losing fat and water is number one, in your diet, and number two,in your cardio. peace and good luck bro!

Im hoping the pain is from not doing many core workouts, and gaining 30lbs since then...strength has definitely went up however so has bodyfat which the scale at the gym says is 35%...so academy starts 3/3/08, so i have about 10 weeks to drop this weight and figure this out..

What about doing swimming or seated cycling for your cardio? These are very low impact but will still get your heartrate up...

As far as cycling that is what im limited too for now. I guess I've got it planted in my head that if im not running outside or on a treadmill then i dont consider it true cardio.. however next couple weeks im going to give the cycle a shot and see how it goes.

ORIGINAL: nachos000 Whatever gets your heartrate up to the required range is fine! that's right! you just have to maintain a certain heart rate when you walk or do a pace walk so you can burn calories. believe me, i don't run. what i do is i walk at a certain speed in the treadmill in the gym but at the highest incline. it doesn't hurt the back, knees, nor the ankle bro. as far as your diet goes, not being a pro or anything, but i'd say you're doing quite alright. :) you're even stricter than i am.
