AM, PM Training…

Anyone ever tried this out before? I’ve always read it in the magazines, but thought that it was only for the guys who were getting that “extra help” with their workouts. Anyways, I didn’t have anything to do Sunday so I decided to give it a try with legs. Really early I got up and did Quads, then about six or seven hours later I went back to the gym and did Hams/Calves… my gym is about 15 minutes away. Immediately what I noticed in the morning was that mentally just giving myself one Body Part to work on my intensity and focus was through the roof. All I had to get through was Leg Extensions/Squats/Leg Press. After a good layoff from all those movements I actually was very close to my max weights when I was doing them regular. I was able to take my time and apply myself better. I was there about 40 minutes and then out the door. After taking care of some personal stuff throughout the day, came back and did Leg Curls/Stiff-Legged Deadlifts/Standing Calf Raises/Seated Calf Raises. Same deal, my focus was a lot better… instead of trying to cram them all into one workout was in and out of the gym in about 30 minutes. Mentally, I did feel like I may have been bordering on overtraining, but eating has been really good lately and my energy as well, so I thought I would give it a shot. I am actually starting to think being “overtrained” is not as rampant as thought. I guess this sort of thing would only apply to a larger bodypart in the morning and then definitely a smaller one at night. Arnold’s old Chest in the morning and Back at night deal would leave me runned down in a hurry. For the meantime, when trying this out I will only be able to reserve it to the weekends with work and all. But, I think I might try Biceps/Triceps in the AM Saturday and Forearms/Abs in the PM this week….

Its actually quite good but you would also have to emphasize on the recovery period. I tried it once. It was quite refreshing throughout the day but at the end of the day, I lay pooped on my bed. Proper recovery is crucial...
It's times like these, you learn to live again...

I started doing a 3-day split, morning and evening workouts that has been good for me so far. Since my arms need more work my schedule is as follows: MON. Morning-Chest. / Evening-Bi’s & Tri’s TUES. Rest. WED. Morning-Shoulders & Traps / Evening-Legs THURS. Rest. FRI. Morning-Back / Evening-Bi’s & Tri’s I have 2 different Chest routines that I can alternate. Arm routine – 12 different exercises to select from, usually 2 Bi’s and 2 Tri’s. 4 different Shoulder&Trap routines that I can alternate. Leg routine - 4 different exercises Yes, recovery is most important. For me, Glutamine works in my recovery process. Peace
