tips for maxing my bench press? (quick replies please) - Monday, August 25, 2008 10:05 AM ( #1 )
Ok im going for my new max bench press today. 200lbs. Im 16 and 145lbs. Can i get some tips from some of you guys to help me get it. Thanks. Im really hoping i get it.

stretch, get a good warm up, eat before you go to the gym, listen to some good music, get pissed off right before

dont stretch before u do the lift though. thats not good advice

Goals: 4plate squat, 5plate dead

dont stretch before u do the lift though. thats not good advice


I agree stretching prior to a max out attempt will make you weaker do a warm up set and go to it

i would not stretch. but hit 50% of that your old max is 10x for a warm up. make sure you have eaten before hand

really? i didnt know that stretching made u weaker before heavy lifts. would it be bad to stretch before just benching on a 5x5 routine then?

Don't do any static stretches prior to lifting

eat a **** load , dont stretch get a warmup set in or 2 take a deep breath and go for it zone out dont think about the weight

guys i didnt make it. I got 195lbs.Oh well ill go for it in like 4 months or so :[
