this is weird...what's going on? - Thursday, March 12, 2009 10:03 AM ( #1 )

Ok, I’ve been strictly dieting for my vacation I went on last week for about two months. I started at about 182lbs and finished before my vacation at 163lbs and 5.7%body fat. Now, I admit that I ate like complete sh1t while I was on vacation. So, by the fifth and last day I was actually able to see the 6lbs I put on when I looked at myself in the mirror.

Here’s the weird part though. I weighed myself on Sunday and saw that I weighed about 169lbs on, which is fine. On Tuesday evening I weighed myself again and it says that I weigh 178. I was thinking that it was all just food and water weight from everything through out the day, so I weighed myself again this morning and it still reads 177lbs. the weight is sticking! I couldn’t have put that much weight on since I’ve gotten back, I got sun poisoning on my last day on the trip, so I’ve been sick and I haven’t been eating as much as I usually do, which still isn’t anywhere nearly enough to put another 7lbs on in 3 days. And on top of that, I don’t see it in the mirror. My abs still pop out a tiny bit like they did before, and my moobs (man boobs) are still almost completely gone. Does this make any sense to anybody?

I would say that your intestines have been refilled.  Eat a clean high fiber diet with lots of fruits and veggies over the next couple of weeks and some of that weight should be "flushed" away.

oooohh....."flushed".....i got it....thanks, ill give that a shot and see how that turns out, but i'm curious about something else now..

when i had my body fat checked the morning of my last dieting day, it read 5.7% with my "less full" intestines. it was one of those that asks for total body weight, age, height, level of activity and gender and then you hold on to the handles while it reads your body fat percentage...now, if i put in my new higher weight, which is mostly my "intestinal weight" will that then throw off my new readings? or were my initial readings with my "less full" intestines the readings that were thrown off?

The reading from those bio-electric resitance machines is less than accurate.  For a true, and cheap measurement, get a set of calipers for about $20 and follow the instructions.  The other method may be right sometimes, but it is too spuratic based on moisture in your skin and water content in your body.

if you were genuinely 5.7% your abs would be prominent, not just showing slightly, and there would be absolutely no sign of man boobs. i dont think this is accurate

well i've also lost like 70lbs when i was 16....yeah, i was fat growing up. My skin hasn't really come back in and taken any real form. Is that a possiblity when it comes to my abs not being prominant and still having a little bit of man boobs?

ah ok fair enough. the 'man boobs' in this case could be loose skin which just needs tightning.

5.7 is low, very low.

If youre really 5.7 you would be quite leaner than I am.  Just trying to give you something to compare too since im not sure where youre getting your measurements from.
