Did you just start lifting? If so, don't worry about it. In two or three weeks of regular workouts, you'll be begging for some soreness.

Not a problem. Don't wait until it completely clears up -that could take as long as a week, but at the same time, don't try to slam through it. soreness is a sign that you broke stuff. I hope you're not just jumping right in with full-blown intensity. You've got to ramp it up slowly. For example, I started with no weights at all -just the bar, and a lot of concentration on form for a solid two weeks. that was more than enough to put a monster soreness on my joints. But like I said, persevere, and in a couple weeks, you won't be getting sore at all.

My experience is soreness means I worked something new or worked it with a little too much "enthusiam." My "sore" workout usually ends up being a little "tender" and with lower weights but I think it's important to keep those muscles moving and stretching, so they don't bind up. Usually work out #2 after a long break is the hardest. #3 is much better. What say the experts? I'm just being the know-nothing blowhard that is me. :)

Soreness is an inflammatory response. It happens when you blast something in such a way that you irritate the fascia and connective tissues in ways they are not used to. With repeated use (i.e. frequent workouts), your joints and ligaments will develop a resistance to that kind of inflammation. Consequently (per Puma's reply), you will continue to grow, even though the inflammatory response is greatly diminished. I'm still packing on the pounds and stretching the tape measure, and I can't get sore no matter what I do.

Yeah being sore isn't a good indication. I only experience if I do either a higher volume or get some lactic acid build up. Ramp it up when you are starting out, it sucks being sore for an entire week and not able to move, but won't happen once you get more used to lifting. Keep your sets and reps fairly low at first and you'll be alright, and don't do a million exercises for one bodypart.

just starting out you should be learning and feeling new muscles, tissue, ligaments, ect. being sore, and in some cases a little injured. it happens, but you will learn from it as you go on, best thing you can do is say monday is your legs day, get on youtube and look up proper for for squats, sounds to simple but some of the best bodybuilders and trainers in the worlds clips that have been linked on there for your entertainment. that should help with your technique, as far as everything else, and there is alot more ingredience to it, it will also be found on the net, i suggest you do your reserch before you get to nuts in the gym. just get creative with it, its a hobby, love it

I agree with everyone here, but if say your legs are toast and its really bothering you, an ice bath will always work wonders if you can man up for like 10 - 15 minutes in the cold
Goals: -Find more time to get to the gym..

I'm still packing on the pounds and stretching the tape measure, and I can't get sore no matter what I do. I don't really agree with this statement. Even after 2.5 years of hard work, I always feel sore in my chest, legs, back (sometimes) the day after I work them out. On the other hand, I NEVER experienced any kind of soreness in my deltoids.

In my opinion its just how you use it; as in how your program is set up. I may go from one program and feel sore the first week then 2 months later feel sore for the first week of my next one. Just your body not accustomed to the gameplan i guess but it adapts fast.

I had left out calf raises for the longest time because my calves are pretty good size already. I thought the time was better spent elsewhere. I added them to my routine and added them heavy. The next day it was almost too painful to walk. :(

traps are kill, if you hitt your traps just right its almost to hard to look behind you at some points, but i love it. strange about not bein able to get delts sore though, i never seem to have problems with that, specaily bcuz of the masive amount of potentail muscle you can hitt on a shoulder/trap day. i could spent hours on just my delts, just LOVE EM!!
