If you're saying what I think you are... you're maintaing your training and eating less food but gaining weight? I'm not sure if that is possible? I don't think stopping smoking can reduce the metabolism and cause you to gain weight.. only compensating by eating more due to not smoking will do that.. Great job stopping smoking! but with that said.. no need to resort to chemicals.. anti-depresants.. patches.. gum.. etc... Just tough it out....and drink plenty of water...... It will get easier as each day goes by..

It's one of the fantastic double cig stopping whammies. Everything else you said is 100% true. It is pointless to try to ramp up your metabolism chemically, eventually you'll stop those pills to so you will have to confront that scenario again. Stupid cycle. Eat well, healthfully and in moderation, and frequently. Exercise drink lots of water don't give drug and suppliment companies more money, and allow yourself to be brain washed into believing they have magic life fixing pills. Congrats on Quitting! --thehardway- talkin' about quitting...did you actually quit or decrease?

You lean something new every day! I never knew nicotine was a stimulant.. I thought when a person quits smoking, they usually resort to eating more to take their mind off of the nicotine addiction.. But now that you mention it.. I have heard of people having to go to the ER from chewing nicotine gum and drinking hot fluids at the same time. The hot fluids caused the nicotine to be released from the gum at a fast rate causing erratic/irregular heart beats.. so it does make sense..
