I take GNC Mega-Men multi-vitamins, tablets containing a combo fish, flax, and borage oil, and 2 35g protein shakes each day. Is there anything that I am missing, that would be considered essential? As far as the vitamins go, the directions say to take two daily w/ food. Does two daily mean split apart or at the same time? I've been taking one in the morning and one in the evening. Does it matter? Also, any suggestions or places to research supplements for older folk? My dad (almost 50) notices me supplementing my meals and has become interested. Thanks.

Hard Core Body Builders take 1 gram of Protein for 1 lb of weight. I personally take Mega Men because i dont eat well, I usually drink Cell Tech / Nitro Tech Shakes a couple times a day. As for the Mega Men i take both pill Before my mourning Cardio work.

1 gram of protein per 1lb of weight is the minimum , the recommended amount is about 1.5-1.8 grams of protein per 1lb of weight or 1-1.5 grams of protein per 1lb of LBW for bodybuilders , something around those numbers.

I've heard that splitting up your vitamins is best, but can't remember why. I take a 1 a day now, though, so it's a moot point for me. But if you have a 2 a day, I would keep taking morning and night. Hard to say if you are doing right by the protein supp, without knowing how the rest of your diet is. But for most people, a multi, a fish oil and whey protein is enough.

The vitamins are time released, but I still feel I should seperate the two between morning and night. I haven't calculated exactly how much protein I require. I weigh around +190lbs, so at 1.5, I'd require about 285g. That seems like a lot, although I'd imagine I get to close to that. I drink two 35g Designer Glycerlean shakes, plus have 2 other moderate sized meals and a slightly larger dinner. Breakfast is ususally a 3-egg omlete, a bowl of cereal + fruit, or raisin bagel + PB. Lunch is generally a turkey sandwhich w/ a portion of fruit. Dinner is pretty well rounded: meat, veggies, and some form of carbohydrate.

Same thing goes for protein shakes, meal replacement bars, etc. That's why all those things are known as "supplements"- They're supposed to supplement a healthy diet, not replace it. Change the way you eat, and watch what happens to your gains.

What's so bad about the Mega Men vitamins? I like the funky green coating and they don't stink!

Yeah, seriously? What's wrong w/ GNC products and what proof do you have? I take the Mega Men multi-vitamins, what would you recommend instead? quote:

Actually, I can't really comment on the effectiveness of their vitamins- Except to say that no supplements at all can be expected to yield any real results if you're not eating good solid food meals. It's just that GNC really sucks, overall. A lot of their products leave a lot to be desired, as well as their prices and in my experience some of their salespeople- But they're the biggest supp chain out there, so a lot of people still use them.

GNC SUCKS!! I think the best Multi out there is Animal Pak... http://www.animalpak.com/html/sections.cfm?ID=7 I haven't had a cold or anything in like three years while taking them. When I stop taking them I feel run down... and the only time I did get sick is when I thought that I could get by without them. If you are training really hard, then Animal Pak is a good supplement.

Alright, quite frankly I'm getting sick of the "GNC SUCKS!" mantra. Weapon X, you're so convinced, can you give me some reasons? Or are you following the herd? GNC has high priced items, yep. Maybe their protein powder sucks, sure. So you avoid the high-priced items or make the decision to spend a few extra bucks. So you don't buy their protein powder. But screaming "GNC SUCKS!" from the rooftops? Come on, jesus. quote:
If you are training really hard, then Animal Pak is a good supplement. Alright, sounds good. Can you give me any reasons WHY? And what if I'm not training really hard, is it still good then? And what exactly separates it from the others? Or is it another herd instinct?

Ok, this should answer everyone's questions on gnc, and why they suck. I have been to more than one gnc store, how many? Hell if I can recall, but what I do recall is the people behind the desk knowing absolutly nothing at all about any supplements I had questions about when I first started out. Their items are over-priced, proof of that can be found on almost any website where you can buy the same stuff, but much cheaper. As for actual gnc items, I've tried their protein, not only was the taste horrible, but it did nothing, their liquid creatine made me wanna puke with that far too sweet taste of bubble gum, and NO2, i wasted $80 on that crap that did nothing for me, or any of my friends who took the dreaded 8 pills a bloody day. My investments in gnc have been great, and my satisfaction was non-exsistent. In this thread and many other I have bashed gnc for crappy products which dont do what they say they do, as I will continue to do so until one of 3 things happen. 1. I'm abducted by aliens and can never post on this board again, 2. gnc givs me my money back and weeks of muscle loss and false hope, or 3. I become a pro. bodybuilder and am asked by gnc to endorse their crap, I mean supplements, in which case I will have no problem lying to the public for a couple bucks...lol. You guys might say that your vitimins are working for you, thats great, I have fallen victim to the placebo effect as well, its nothing to be ashamed of. if you have gotten anything out of all that I have written here, remember this... gnc SUCKS! dont waste your time, take the freakin' flintstone vitamins, have dino chase fred and barney around for a bit till they reach your mouth, chew, then swallow, and if you still claim gnc products work, choke to death on dino's leg because you would be what I call a lost hope, or in lamens terms, a sucka. gnc makes me madder than a legless etheopian watchin' a dougnut roll down a hill.

Fine with me, it's a chain. I don't expect McDonald's employees to know squat about their burgers either, they're both minimum wage. quote:

Two complaints of taste and one that NO2 didn't do anything, which is a common complaint with other NO2 products. quote:

gnc makes me madder than a legless etheopian watchin' a dougnut roll down a hill. That's a good excuse to use then cus your post took a long time to amount to more anecdoctal evidence. Let me be clear, I've only purchased an item from GNC once. I just don't buy into the popular chant of every product sucking without some evidence.
