straps

anyone else use straps. I do deadlifts 1-2x a week and i can only do 1 plate without straps so when i bump up 2 plates its easy for my back to handle its just hard to hold the grip Im starting to do forearm but they are still getting GG'ed by heavy deadlifts.

Try to keep the straps to a minimum. I can do rack pulls with 225 (2 plates) without straps so, yea..

Lower the weight and work your way up, the grip will catch up. I used to use straps, when I first started HST I began to slowly stay away from them using lower weight. I never realised how weak my grip really was. yesterday I just did 285x10 deadlifts with no straps. I dont need them, and they sit at home collecting dust now. Your just going to have to accept that your going to have to let your grip catch up. holding it with an inverted grip will help you hold heavier weight. ORIGINAL: Creation anyone else use straps. straps would be ok to use if u are trying to hit ur lower back and legs on ur deadlifts. if ur grip is fine but u wan to use more weigh to put stress on the muscles then straps would be ok. but only in that situation. never anywhere else!! but u should really work on ur grip strength if u struggle holding onto 225
Current: 18, 5'11", 194 bench:290 squat:405 deadlift:420

i use straps but only on my last sets, or heaviest sets. I don't want my grip to compramize my back workout. Sometimes your back can handle more weight when eliminating a weak variable like grip strength. Since i started using the straps i've added forearm work to my daily routines

well see i have a decent grip usually it just gets slippery, and i just have small arms(girth wise) my wrist is 7 inches and doing that lower weight does nothing for my lower back thus defeating doing deadlifts

I usually have that problem and I have to constantly wipe my hands off. I've used chalk before and it helps a lot.
