a while ago, i was doing squats, and the bar with a few hundred pounds, crunched down on my left hand. that was about a month ago. i still feel a little soreness and about 80% of maximal strength. i use some grippers, but is there anythign that can improve this?

Great. If the soreness persists for that long, and you have a loss of strength, it's time to get a medical opinion- I bet you didn't take any time off from lifting, though- A couple of weeks rest might have taken care of the problem.
