i smoke a minimum of about 2 grams a day...sometimes less, sometimes a LOT more. as long as you only munch out on good calories...then it can't really hurt. It's the only way I can get enough food in me each day ;-). I never train stoned though...i just wouldnt have a drive.

smoing weed in any shape or form is BAD for your health. The effects seem to be either prolonged or delayed. But there will be effects, regardless of who you are. The effects can include cancer.

hey man...to each his own. I just can't get a drive to workout when I'm stoned, or believe me, I'd be high ALL day. If it works for you, and you like it...more power to ya

(to NaturesAnimal88): Marajuana is 100% natural unlike soda, candy, and everything else most Americans eat truck loads of every year. I would be worried about the hundreds of negative effects of eating these unnatural things (obesity, heartdisease, etc.) then the possible negative effects of someone who smokes a bowl every once in a while. "There will be effects."? Who are you? Anyway, I wouldn't think that your recreational activities should interfere with your lifting as long as you keep it within reason.

Inhalation of any kind of smoke can cause lung cancer, make no mistake about it.

Sure bet it can cause lung cancer, but the majority of people dont smoke marijuana nearly as much as those who smoke cigarettes on a pack a day basis. Not to mention that a lot of people who smoke marijuana daily smoke it from such aparatises as bongs, vaporizers, or other things that reduce a lot of the carcinagens. The census on people who have died directly because of marijuana is still 0... That is a lot less than alcohol, steroids, obesity due to terrible food...

The question was does it hold you back on your training. Not does it hold back your training in comparison to obesity, cigarettes, alcohol, etc. To the original poster, as long as you can control your munchies it's fine. Don't workout high, when you need coordination and concentration coupled with 100's of pounds, its dangerous and you'll just feel lazy and uninspired anyways.

Question: Do you think it holds your training back in any way? Answer: From the limited studies done and observation below, I believe it does hold back your training in some way. You simply asked if it holds it back in "any way." Sure. Just like me having 1 beer every week would technically. But how much does it hold it back? Does it hold it back to any noticible effects at all? How much is too much and if I smoke every so often, does it matter? That can be debated. The holding back in some way might be so minisule in many ways that you'd never notice anyway. But you did ask and I do believe that anything (chemicals, candy smoking, drinking) all can hold you back in the most minor of ways. Just answering the question but not making any specifics mind you. "Perhaps a greater problem than the paucity of useful drugs for treatment of nutritional disease is the excessive number of drugs taken by our population that interfere with nutrition. On a global scale, malnutrition may be due to lack of food supply, but for middle-class Americans, the taking of drugs which interfere with proper nutrition is a greater problem. The variety of strange substances that people put into their mouths instead of food, e.g., alcohol, amphetamines, xanthines, thyroid hormones, cigarettes, marijuana, [SD, sedatives, tranquilizers, narcotics, all have adverse effects." Lawrence G. Raisz Some drugs we would like to have in nutrition and metabolism Am. J. Clinical Nutrition, Jan 1973; 26: 125 - 128.

um... marijuana produces estrogen I can't believe no one took the opportunity to bust this. Produces estrogen? thats probably the stupidest thing ive heard in a long time. But anyway, i use it recreationally on the weekends, i usually don't work out while high but I have in the past and its not much different to me.

Please don't train stoned. . . intoxicated . . . or in any other mind-altered state. It's a question of safety, nothing more or less.

Uhh. . .no. I don't want to take the chance of being charged with a Misdemeanor/Felony and have that go on my record for the rest of my life.
