i used to play middle LB and as long as you can show the coach that you know what your doing and have the proper tackling form down theres no doubt theyll pick you over the new guys who don't know what there doin

You never know Connelly might know a lot about it, or might not know anything but at least give him a chance.

umm okay bro, im only 17 but from what your saying it looks like your into gaining weight, depending on the time.. like now its about to be the season you would want to do a "hypertrophy" work out, or a work out to build muscle mass. there are alot of articles on here about how to get big so just look up bodybuilding articles, its kinda hard for someone to tell you how to get big beacsue everyones different, but try different things and eat alot of food, i hope it helps good luck with your season !

Trevmann you could at least be polite, you asked for advice and Connelly offered you some. No one's going to help you if you want to act like that.

What he said is common knowledge here, I could give you much more advice about bulking up and gaining strength if thats what your after but just don't get rude to people.

okayy... getting back on topic... just give it your all, just have fun. I play Varisity Football at my HS, im not that big of a guy im only 5'6, 160 and im starting RLB, and iv seen guys go out there and give it there all and get Frusterated and throw a pissy fit, and the guys that go out there and show heart and have fun with the game. So just go out and give it your all, show alot of heart, and just have fun with it.

Eat. 5'9 isn't a bad height for a linebacker if you have good balance. You should start eating. If you're a freshman there's no reason why you can't be 200+ pounds senior year. I'd reccomend a three day split involving deadlifts, squats, overhead Press, and rows every workout. Focus on explosiveness. Oh, don't be a dxck to connelly either. Damnit, I just looked at this and it was made in July.

Be the most ruthless man on the field, and don't take crap from anyone. If you know what you're doing, and know all the plays coaches will notice that. Trust me, I was a TE in highschool and college, 6'6" never made it over 225lbs but every single play, I made sure that I fired out and the person in front of me right in the gut. Seriously, if you've got the drive for it, you'tt do fine.

Trevmann's sig is BS. You just said you weighed 141, but in your sig it clearly states your 150? Is your bench really 165 and squat 205 lol?

Listen trevmann, Size isnt everything for Linebacker, Coaches like playmakers! Not bodybuilders so keep in mind when ever you get the chance to get in at practice or game make plays. Playing linebacker is all about instinct, Try watching the linemen as they will tell you were the plays going everytime. ask your coach about it. As a senior i was 195 had 185 tackles 3 picks and 6 sacks and i was the smallest backer but i was always to the ball first which made me stand out to the coaches which led me to play varisty as a freshman at 170 i think it was then started my soph year.A kid your size should do this.... a good tackling tip is to have one arm around the back and scoop one leg up and the will be on there back. also dive for them if ther out of reach dont try to chase them down and tackle up high
