i never tried powerlifting but i am sure i can be pretty close on having the correct answer. first off everyones bodies develope at different speeds. secondly whether you are bodybuilding or powerlifting it is not going to be fast at any rate. it is a matter of preference on what you would like to acomplish. what ever it is, is going to take will power and time.

Really, the only thing you can do is choose the one you want the most. They'll both come with time, but powerlifting will get you more strength and bodybuilding will get you more size. You can always just switch between bodybuilding-style and powerlifting-style workouts. That way you'll get both size and strength.
