im proberbly not the best person to give advise, but crunches hardly make you lose fat. in order to lose the fat you desire and to get them abs popping through you need to do lots of cardio; swimming, running, biking. train your abs around twice a week, the rest is fat loss.

The only way to lose fat on mid section is Clean diet and cardio. You cannot target any specific location to lose fat. It will go away all together, I.E. doing sit-ups will not burn stomach fat, stair stepper burns butt fat. IT DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY. Be patient and it will eventually go away with clean diet and cardio. I did notice that my face and fingers did get thinner before any other part of me. EDIT: For you to have a full six-pack, you will need a very low over all body fat %

If you want to add muscle, you have to eat more calories than your body needs in order to build it. If you want to lose fat, you have to eat less calories than your body needs in order to lose it. It sucks, but that's the way the human body works- The best method is to go through bulking and cutting phases, where you pick one goal or the other and stick to it for a predetermined amount of time, or until you reach a predetermined weight. Timewise, it takes your body a while to adjust to both phases, so you can't really bulk one week and cut the next and expect the best results. I've found that it takes me three or four months to see a noticable difference in the way I look whenever I change anything about my routine or diet. Having said that, it's always a good idea to do cardio and lift- Cardio helps keep you in good cardiovascular shape after all, which weightlifing is no substitute for. While the body doesn't react well to trying to add muscle and lose fat at the same time, people have tried with some decent results- But generally speaking you end up getting to a point where you can't go any further without switching to a total cut or bulk plan.

Ok, I'm in the same boat as this guy. Give me some examples of what a "clean" diet consists of, when to eat and how much, and what are some good cardio exercises or programs to get good results. Any help is much appreciated!

Check out the nutrition forum for the right diet info, it's all posted there just look around. There's also some great cardio info in the training forum, as well as excellent lifting programs to help you reach your goals.
