(danmirage)

You should be eating carbs in an amount 2x your protein...and healthy fats too.

You can get GREAT gains with only .9 grams per pound of bodyweight if you do this.

So
100 g protein (400 cals) 24%
200 g carbs (quality whole food carbs!) (800 cals) 49%
50g fat (450 cals) 27%

Total = 1650 calories

As you gain weight be sure to increase your eating.
Also be sure to give your body REST.
RE: Why am I very strong, but it doesn't show??? (cpl)

It's not enough to say you take this much protein- sure protein is important, but you need your whole diet in shape before you can really make progress. Protein means a lot, but it doesn't mean everything in other words. Get concerned with all of it- Protein, carbs, fats- the proper amounts of the proper types of these will get you on the right track. Check out our nutrition forum, do some reading there- There's a lot to learn in those pages.
To answer the question though, generally speaking in order to gain muscle you want to take in something like 1 1/2 grams of protein per pound of lean mass. You might have to work up to that amount, and some people try to go as high as 2 grams per, but 1 1/2 should be fine.
Remember though- If the rest of your diet's crap, all that protein is only going to do so much.
RE: Why am I very strong, but it doesn't show??? (SuperCoolFool)

Right now I take about 100 protein a day... Is that enough?

RE: Why am I very strong, but it doesn't show??? (cpl)

There's some helpful posts, and some not so helpful- I don't think the issue here is how much a thirteen year old can really lift at that weight, the question is why do some people have strength that doesn't really show.
It's possible to increase your strength without adding muscle, simply because the muscle you already have learns to operate at it's peak potential- Think about your average person who decides to start lifting without a real diet in place. They still experience beginner gains, because their body learns how to use the muscle it already has. Naturally, there's only so much you can expect from this- Sooner or later, your body will simply have to add more muscle mass in order to be able to lift more, since you cannot build new muscle without the proper nutrients, period.
So, if you want some strength that really shows, you have to eat right- Plain and simple.
RE: Why am I very strong, but it doesn't show??? (ebbearsfb1)

before ur 14-15 years old u should only be doing ur body weight or ur not gonna grow

superfool ur a fool to think of benching 300 pounds before ur 14. God bless if u can do it but don't plan on growing ne more. ur going to stunt ur growth like that
plus ur going to hit plateau's

if i was having a kid lift he would just do his body weight push-ups, sit ups, chin ups, pull ups, curls with very light weight maybe 5's

RE: Why am I very strong, but it doesn't show??? (GTDude)

I you want size you need to squat. Squats will help with your bech as well. It may seem dangerous at first but if you think about it so is benching heavy if you don't have a spot. So i reccomend the eating that was stated above and to stop running, and to start squatting. Just make sure that you have proper form and get the person who spots you on bench to spot you on squats. If you don't know proper form there are a lot of sites where it can be found so just google it. Hope that this helps.
-Kyle
