I agree w/ alot just said but theres no way (with the exception of a few) that a d3 school can compete with a d1 program. I dont mean 1aa like Fordham, Northeastern, Hofstra, ect. I mean d1 schools like Miami, Michigan, Cal, and even the lesser d1 teams like the mountain west conference. And even those 1aa schools would get wrecked by large d1 schools. And your telling me every player on a d1 team has above a 3.5 or 3.6 GPA. No way. If your good enough and a d1 school wants you, they'll make it happen, which is this case with ALOT of star high school players.

And Baseball, I also know a bunch of guys who turn in their 40 times at the 4.3 to 4.5 range but that does not mean they are the same caliber football player who runs that time in d1. Thats like saying the a WR in d3 who runs a 4.4 can compete with the likes of a Calvin Johnson or a Dwayne Jarret. Its not realistic. But I dont see why you find it difficult to see that some one other than a d1 player can run a 4.3 or 4.4. They may run the same speed but there not the same caliber football player, thats the difference. If you run a 4.3 or 4.4 as a football player your not autmatically going to play d1 man. Theres way to many other aspects of football.

RE: PREPING FOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL (joelkthx)

fullback... youre dreaming dude. d3 football has some good players, but can not compete with d1. or d2. most NAIA. its just a different level man... and this is caused by scholarships. d1 has the most, so they have the best players. then 1-aa, then d2, then naia, and then d3. again, this is a general rule. of course some lower level teams can be some higher teams on occasion.. but anyway, thats just how it is. dude, i currently play naia ball.. i just have no problem admitting that my team cant compete with a d1 team. (with exceptions like the non-scholarship conferences...they suck)

you are mentioning these "scrimmages."
this makes me think you are playing club ball or JV... because college football doesnt allow scrimmages. its not like high school.
RE: PREPING FOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL (Baseball22)

Well I guess you have your opinion, but 99 out of 100 people would agree D2 is better than D3. Its called D2 and D3 for a reason. If D3 is almost equal to D1, why do D1 players out number D3 players over 400 to 1 in the NFL?

As to New Jersey and New York being 3 and 4 as the best football states, here is a pretty cool link to and espn article from a few months ago. http://sports.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation/story?page=communityfbIP
They ranked all the states based on high school, pro, and college. NJ was 9 and NY is 16 overall.

I think the main problem is you have never really been out and around to see other teams and other states and think your area is the best. Its good to have pride in your area and I used to think the same way until I actually got to see what is really out there. Yes they may take hs football seriously in NY, but 23 states have better quality hs football. I know its hard to believe until you see it, but its true. Almost half of the U.S. has better hs football than NY. THis doesnt mean no good players come from NY. One thing every sports fan should do in their lifetime is go to a hs game in Texas just for the atmosphere. Its amazing.
RE: PREPING FOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL (Guest)

typo bosco 1 year..new rochelle1 north rockland 2.. honest typo so forgive it.. and idk man D2 is definetly not better then D3..i just dont agree that there a "handful" or 60 that can cut it D1..idk wher eur from but wehre i grew up IN NY football is serious and behind texas and florida we and NJ have some of the best players PERIOD...i just think that theres more ppl then u think and u wont accept it...

RE: PREPING FOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL (Baseball22)

First off, atleast your doing the right thing by going to college and getting an education. Pay attention and work hard because, no offense, your writing needs a lot of work. For example, what does me being incompetant towards you even mean? I think you need to pick a word that would fit in that sentence so I could understand it.

Where do you go to school at? If you have 4 kids faster than nfl players I'll send the coaching staff here at Maryland down to look at them. You guys must dominate with that kinda talent.

Your bigger and stronger than me? You probably are stronger I'll admit that I'm not a hulk by any means. I never really lifted in hs becasue of baseball players not being huge and I had enough natural ability to get away with it. I am still almost a foot taller than you and 20+ lbs heavier and still have a lot of room to grow. I just got into lifting seriously about 2 years ago. Being around atheltes all my life being weight room strong and talented at football dont always go hand in hand. There are people who hold weight room records that never seen the field.

I believe there are maybe 50 d3 players who could cut it at a d1 school. Yes some slip through the cracks, but its d3 for a reason. As I stated earlier, I respect d3 players who do what they love for the love of the game, but d1>d3. Heck, d2>d3

Here is my last piece of advice. Don't lie or make stuff up, you will get caught eventually and made to look even more like a fool. I already proved all your previous claims false, but you have a web of lies in this thread alone. Earlier, you said you played Don Bosco Prep for 2 years and then For North Rockland high school your senior year. Now, you say you played New Rochelle high. Unless you can play for two schools at once, your busted again. Plus you went from playing against Ray Rice to blocking for him.

I never once said I was better than you. I simply pointed out the facts and what you obviously made up.

I hear it from people all the time and if you ever do make it to d1 you will know what I am talking about. There is always the kids who talk a big game how they can do this or that, yet have some excuse why they don't. People talk trash all the time and never back it up with anything and have excuse. I can beat some guy 20 times in basektball, yet they always have some reason why they lost. I'm too tall, I shot too many 3's, I posted them up too much, I drove too much, etc. You might hear it from some guy who trys to out lift you and can't but has an excuse. Didnt warm up or just benched yesterday.
RE: PREPING FOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL (Guest)

truth is we do have 4 kids who are much faster then most and an offensive linemen who will be joining the Eagles next year.. true story.. ur 25 im 18..im bigger (not height) and stronger then u ever will be and im still growing..(actually im about 5'11 i grew) HAHA.. and u know what im not offended maybe i bull****ted a little bit and despite myage i can admit that ;) im a man or trying to be a good one so i can admit to the bull**** i threw in there i just dont liek ppl who knock wat i kno is the truth around.. and i take pride in my school.. VERY MUCH PRIDE..and i believe that there are so many D3 players who HAD/HAVE the ability ot play divison 1 but couldnt due ot WHAT EVER reasons.. ud be surprised who ive seen ont he field.. and believe me im no shrimp.. the fullback form hawaii.. yea im faster..stronger and an inch taller then him.. u kno what seperates me from him..my school.. its unfortunate that unless i play D1 i wont reallllly get looked at cuz of the small school i play for..its kinda sad.. i have my regrets of not trying harderto get the grades but as far as stepping ont he field.. it will happen give me some time.. i promise you..i have MUCH respect for D1 athletes rememebr i played football with ray rice.. i BLOCKED FOR HIM IN HIGHSCHOOL for an entire season.. and i had just as many opportunities as he did..my senior year as he did his senior year.. we did go to states together.. new rochelle high ...RAY was little and fast in highshcool.. we knew he would go D1..but never knew he would be the caliber player he turned out to be..he almost went to ST JOHN FISHER a D3 school when syracuse turned him down after he injured him self at the state championship game..then Rutgers gave him a shot..and the rest is history.. but thats that...........i could give you his number and he would tell you just how good i am..and it wqould be out of the mouth of a guy who has the NUMBER 1 FULLABCK IN THE NATION BLOCKING FOR HIM..bryan leonard...but thats all talk for now.. IM 18 and ill appologise for being a over sensative dick to you even though you were incompetant towards me and thoguht youw ere much better because u played up D1 ... gues what man.. it dont matter..ill be there sooner or later and ill send u tix tomy game just gimme the address ;)

RE: PREPING FOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL (Baseball22)

Hahaha you did meet your match and obviously need to finish college becasue you can't even write one sentence that makes sense. I'm 25 by the way. You don't see me playing d1 football? I don't see you playing either, so what are you bragging about? You have never set foot on a d1 field and probably never will. I played minor league baseball for 3 years and that was my decision instead of going to college right out of high school and have regreted it. So what if I never made it out of single a ball, atleast I had the oppurtunity which 99.9% of hs players never will. I could have went to almost any school to play baseball or football if I wanted too. Heck, even could have went D2 or D3 for basketball just because of my height, but chose not to. Now I'm finishing up college and proud to be working with up and coming young atheltes.

You couldn't have even held my jock in high school and probably wouln't have ever set foot on the field. Your just a poor misguided little shrimp who never accomplished anything and uses the internet to act tough. Instead of talking about how your going to do this and that and are better than D1 players, try to prove it.

I said before there is 5-10 d3 players in the nfl and you told me there was over 15% on current rosters or around 210 players and you give me a list of 3 players and try to act like you proved me wrong? Haha what a joke. All you proved is you just make things up and have a hard time reading and admitting your wrong. 210 current nfl players are from d3 schools, what a joke.

You have no idea what it takes to be a d1/pro caliber athelete and just shoot your mouth off. D3 baseball schools are better than D1? You are so out of touch its not even funny. D1>D3 in all sports. Thats what makes it D1. How come there are no D3 games, except for the final round of playoffs, on TV if its better than D1?

I'm glad I motivate you to work harder and I hope you do make it one day. If you would read the post where you get all offended and notice I simply pointed out the truth. Truthfully, you can't tell me that your team has multiple kids who are faster than the nfl elite.
RE: PREPING FOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL (Guest)

oohhh and im sure all these Divison 3 players are professionals

http://www.d3football.com/dailydose/2006/05/01/d-iiis-next-nfl-generation/

rj bowers..michael coleman..ethn brooks(cowboys)..R-kal Truluck and Tony BeckhanFred jackson(bills)..Carey Bender(bills)..jermaine tayolr(bucks) Brenden Givan(nfl europe)..Bryank shaw(lions)...brett elliott(chargers) and kevin Culbert(browns)...Bob Docherty(chiefs)Casey allen and Araron krepps(both CFL)brett elliot...Tom arth(packers).........HALL of famer Sam Mills played Divison 3 Football for Montclair state. and there are over 40 D3 football players inth e college football hall of fame..http://www.infoplease.com/ipsa/A0759264.html(but we dont have what it takes right ) UR A LOSER!!! You met your match and backed out. Don't get upset that I accomplished more than you could ever dream of and pointed out every single one of your lies. You have said nothing but lies in every one of your post and not a single intelectual thing. You got caught in your web of lies and couldn't think of a way to get out of it. Your the type of person who makes me sick. You go on and on about how you could have done this and that, yet you have accomplished nothing. You talk like you are big time, which upsets those of us who played d-1 sports.

RE: PREPING FOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL (Guest)

ok end of soultion.. i really feel like you are just sonmewashed up footballplayer who diddnt have what it takes to make it in the "big time"so you go and pick on other people.. peopleliek you makeme sick and you defeated the purpose of this forum.. just go away and play baseball.. Unlike you, I know what I am talking about, so its not hard to find facts when you dont make them up. Notice, you still havent said a true statement and half of what you say makes no sense what so ever.

I'm not here to pick fights, I just get irritated when people who dont realize how hard it is to play at that elite of a level go mouthing off about how good they are. I simply pointed out how your times should be taken with a grain of salt becasue they are coaches hand times. I hear it from joes all the time how they could have played or ran this or that but did nothing.

I respect d3 athletics because players train hard, but D1 is a whole different type of athelete. I know for a fact I had more offers than you, just decided to try my luck at baseball instead.

Lastly, D1 players dont go to d3 schools and use grades as an excuse. Did you ever hear of a prep school or juco? Where players who dont meet the qualifying standards go, not to D3 schools. D3 you have to pay your own way and its tougher to get admitted because they are private schools. And yes if you are a coveted recruit you will get admited if you meet the clearinghouse minimum at Maimi.

By the way, if you went to D3 because of grades why was an IVY league school (columbia) recruting you? Since they dont give football scholarships either?
RE: PREPING FOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL (Guest)

I played for Don Bosco Prep for 2 years and then For North Rockland highschool and went to STates my senior year and i was 1st team all section..all league..all county and all group..not to mentiuon all state honorable mention :) Coming out of highshcool i was being looked at Cnetral florida..Monmouth univeristy...Columbia..wagner..syracuse..UCONN..University at buffalo..miami ohio..and pitt....................DO U NEED PROOF OF THAT TOO WOULD U LIKE ME TO SCAN MY LETTERS!!>> LOL

RE: PREPING FOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL (Guest)

fordham doesent list their scrimmages..johnson and smith attended a JUCO instead of D3 my mistake.. and yes mount union is number one back to back years but ROWAN is nationally ranked every single year for the past 6years..
