One thing that I found is that there are many posts that pertain to deadlifts and all the different types, but no one has mentioned using any clean jerk techniques. I decided to switch my program last week in order to shock/surprise my body and for the fun of it and incoporated a strength program for the next 4 weeks that consists of:
4 exercises of 5X5 of heavy mass exercises (deadlifts, squats, shoulder presses, barbell bench, rows)
2 exercises of 2X8 of arms/tris
(performed twice or three times a week, depending on my schedule)
Now, the question is, does anybody incoporate clean/jerk exercises into their workout. I alternate the shoulder presses between seated and standing, and already do deadlifts for the program. When I do shoulder presses, which I do using a barbell, I sometimes cheat (bending knees and using weight to hoist the bar using also shoulder strength). I'm looking to do more variations to these exercises, possibly a hoist from the deadlift to the shoulders, or maybe the complete movement. Currently, I also sometimes do barbell shoulder raises (I think that's what they're called) with help from legs to hoist the bar. I found exercises that are speed/power related help a lot in developing correct posture and technique, not to mention strength, even with other exercises like the bench press. Many of the moves are advanced, but I tend to use manageable weights when doing them, for the sake of correct form. To be honest, this is the first time I will do them for a complete 4 week cycle, so who knows the end results. Anyone else tried/recommend/distrust this program??
