I've been lifting years to get my bench that high and to say that your sure there is no one on this board as strong as you come on. man 360 isn't that strong to me i work out with a couple guy's who can do 405 8 times. your not as big as your head is that's for sure

ORIGINAL: liftinfoureal

BigMike77, these stats are bull**** for your age.

Height:6'2
Weight:254
bf%-13.2
Age:17
Bench: 360
Squat: 475
Deadlift: 515
leg press: 965

RE: alcohol and weightlifting (dylan431)

You guys are nuts and ridiculous. That stereotype is just crazy. Hes a good wrestler, because hes a good wrestler., nothing to do with genetics. I myself, don't smoke, but do drink on OCCASION. Fifteen years old, and I do not at all affect my workout. That is where I will draw the line. I make sure, wether I drank the night prior or not, I find myself in the gym the next day. I may be weaker for that day, but it'll teach me a lesson knowing that I've had to suffer through the workout feeling the way I did.

RE: alcohol and weightlifting (LoUbErt)

Well I am what some people might call a drinker of some sort. I am not saying I am proud of all the weekends I have wasted my money on drinking beer like its my job, but I will say that most of my fun times have come from these moments when I was partying. I only drink and I was an athlete my whole life, and although nothing special anymore, I still feel some what of a good athlete. Any way, it’s a life style but don’t regret anything. Alc is bad for us and we know it. I feel like when I am out of college I will stop drinking, so I’m just going to live it up as much as I can before I am in the real world =P besides try going to U of Iowa and not drink, seriously. (but I will say the older you get the less fun it is to get blacked out every night, it can **** with your work out schedule.) pluss im sure 24 beers a drinking day is not what your liver would call good for you, dont worry i have slowed down sense then.
RE: alcohol and weightlifting (wvubill22185)

That isn't really the definition of binge drinking because there are many factors that are included in the definition, I know the British Medical Association gives no clear cut definition of it. I have looked into this and I've sene no one die DIRECTLY from smoking weed because you'd pass out far before that point.

RE: alcohol and weightlifting (Yet)

ORIGINAL: No Quarter

In defense of the drinkers, nobody here said they were binge drinking. You guys are blowing it way out of proportion like raider's some hardcore alcoholic when all he said is he likes to drink beer with friends on weekends. Let people "build their character" their own way, not everyone finds the same things to be fun or interesting.

binge drinking is more than 2 drinks in a night, by definition. I rarely get retarded when I drink because I like to remember what I do.
RE: alcohol and weightlifting (Taytay)

 can u die smoking weed?

RE: alcohol and weightlifting (gzinkl)

ORIGINAL: liftinfoureal

"Todays mighty oak is just yesterdays nut that held its ground" Nice, I just shot my nut under todays mighty oak after I did your chick!

charming. and a nice trick.
RE: alcohol and weightlifting (liftinfoureal)

"Todays mighty oak is just yesterdays nut that held its ground" Nice, I just shot my nut under todays mighty oak after I did your chick!
RE: alcohol and weightlifting (No Quarter)

Nah, I wasn't dramatically far off from his squats/deadlifts when I was 17 and I was 50lbs lighter.

I remember this post A good argument for all.
RE: alcohol and weightlifting (liftinfoureal)

BigMike77, these stats are bull**** for your age.

Height:6'2
Weight:254
bf%-13.2
Age:17
Bench: 360
Squat: 475
Deadlift: 515
leg press: 965

RE: alcohol and weightlifting (h2)

This is an old thread, but want to comment.

I agree with much of what you have to say. Though I think drinking is ok just as long as it isn't abused. Even Governator Arny admittedly did a fair amount of weed and drank back in his prime (see Pumping Iron video), and he was a 7x Olympian.

RE: alcohol and weightlifting (nate_dogg)

I can't be bothered to read this whole thing but clearly alcohol or any sort of non-anabolic or non-stimulant drugs are going to hinder your gains.

That being said, most things in moderation are not going to hurt. A drink every now and then, or even getting drunk once a week, isn't going to cause a noticeable detriment unless you are training for competition.

RE: alcohol and weightlifting (No Quarter)

This is just turning into two sides attacking eachother's way of life, while this topic was really only about gains.

The middle ground seems to be:
-Drugs (including alcohol) when used occasionally will have a minimal effect on gains.
-Drugs (including alcohol) when used excessively will still not have a major effect on gains directly, but it will effect your body in a negative way which could possibly hurt gains significantly. (By negative effects I mean anything from lung cancer to a hangover or even just a simple case of the munchies).

Whether you choose to do any form of drugs or not is your choice and really doesn't need to be justified (or forced upon) anyone else here. Especially on a site about bodybuilding (though ironically the majority of real bodybuilders actually do drugs...you guys know which one I'm talking about).

Can we all agree on that?

RE: alcohol and weightlifting (gzinkl)

Ahhh, to be so wise in college. I must've really fu*ked up back then.
I understand what we're dealing with here. Best of luck to you.
RE: alcohol and weightlifting (cb)

 LOL what facts ?
