At least you can do squats. Surgery is a heavy duty thing; Not only do you lose strength and muscle mass through recovery. Sometimes it may leave people worse of than they were to begin with. Meaning 'accidents' happen through surgery, or the sacrifice of sports has to be made for your general health and condition.

You've done really well through your recovery, and got straight back onto your routine to make sure you makes gains and keep strength. That's a lot of will power.

RE: my knee story (ks32561)

I plan on getting my legs as big and strong as I possibly can. Only bummer is that w/out squatting for so long the heaviest weight I could use was 185lbs, I think I did about 6 reps.

RE: my knee story (Chazz540)

So what are you plans for the future, involving workouts etc.? Are you going to strengthen quadracepts? Or go easy on the legs all together?

RE: my knee story (Marc David)

 Awesome!

RE: my knee story (Chazz540)

That's good news, glad you're well.

RE: my knee story (ks32561)

Actually it feels almost as good as new. That glucosamine is good stuff. It only bothers me seldomly when I am walking and Im going to try doing squats Monday. I have already done deadlifts and it only felt slightly different than usual. The doc suggested an MRI if it continued to bother me but now it only slightly bugs me sometimes. Thanks for the tips though. I feel that stretches helped alot when my knee was bothering me though, I did all that I could. While I cannot be sure it helped with the pain that much it definatley helped in the psychological aspect.

RE: my knee story (Chazz540)

I don't have much info that would help in the sense you may want but I have a few idea to be more comfortable.

Stretching if you can all any muscles in the leg, but only if it is not painful. If it is a meniscal tear then that would not be good lol.

Massage, Ice pack (not to cold on your skin).. Like I said not much, but I'll try to help anyone who needs some kind of help.

Get well soon!

RE: my knee story (Psychoag98)

Have you gotten an MRI? I did ask him if glucosamine would help and he said yes as well as recommending chondroitin sulfate. He said its nothing serious probably an effusion: when some sort of liquid gets in there I cant remember exactly. He said I should lay off for a couple more weeks and if it still bothers me I could see a specialist but its not going to cause any permanent damage.

my knee story (ks32561)

A few weeks ago I messed up my right knee playing football. This knee always used to give me trouble. When I was around ten it would get jammed up or something and I would not be able to move it unless somebody "un jammed" it. I no longer have a problem with that (I think that I grew out of it) but ever since that day playing football I cant do near what I could do on squats (I have quit working out my legs for now). My real question is that about a week after I screwed my knee up my right hamstring has become sore without lifting and It has stayed that way for about a week and a half. Should I do anything to speed the recovery, Its not a very serious pain I just cant workout my legs and I am worried about my hamstring. I am probably going to go to the doctor if it persists, but I was hoping someone could tell me something usefull because Doctors aint cheap.
