The only way I got rid of it was to have it properly diagnosed and the doctor gave me an anti-inflammatory shot. Give it some rest to see if it goes away. If it won't, go see a doc.

RE: Shin splints (klocinski)

 http://www.discussbodybuilding.com/m_42361/mpage_1/key_shin%2csplints/tm.htm#42437

and yes BK is right. if it is a problem that keeps comming back you may want to consult your doctor.

RE: Shin splints (bklynboy)

um, no offence but don't u think that u should consult your doctor about this? i mean there are a lot of experienced people in this site but the best thing to do before u get anything really bad would be to talk to your doc.

RE: Shin splints (klocinski)

there was a post like this about a month ago that i posted to. it gives all the info that you will need to know. unfortunatly the post is not in my log so i cant link you directly to it. if i can find it i will post the link

RE: Shin splints (Misanthropy)
Landing on your heels causes shin splints. When you land on your heel, the next muscle to balance your body is your shin. So when you land on your feet (from jumping, walking, etc) make sure your toes/ball of foot hit first, as your calf muscle (better suited for impact than your shin) will be used to balance.

Shin splints (andy)

I keep getting a shin spint in my left leg.
