Most whey proteins have some amount in them now, but you also get them from food. The BCAA's are essential amino acids, comprised of isoline, lucine and valine, and are called essential because they are not synthesized in your own body. You get them from your diet. &lt;br&gt;   &lt;br&gt;  A lot of people put emphasis on taking bcaa's especially while cutting, helping to preserve muscle while losing weight. Then there is a lot of people who will argue about when to take them. &lt;br&gt;   &lt;br&gt;  Generally when I take BCAA's I take 5g before working out, and 5 afterwards. whenever I do cardio I do 5g before as well. I dont take bcaa's all the time though and dont notice much of a difference.
