It will absorb slower into cells because it has less kinetic energy until it heats up to body temp. Water that is at body temperature will have more kinetic energy, meaning more collisions with other molecules and it will diffuse across cell memebranes quicker than a colder substance.

The difference is slight but cold water is not absorbed quicker, it is less efficient and requires energy to heat up, that is why it boosts your metabolism slightly.

The coldness of the water is purely to make the drink taste better.

RE: Cold or not (kingyoto)

  Who got deleted?

RE: Cold or not (TheSilverFox)

ORIGINAL: Soccerking3000

makes it more enjoyable and cold water is absorbed by your body faster than water at room temperature, as it is passed through the stomach faster to the small intestines

yes stone. he's completely right. especially about the absorption/temperature thing.

when you're parched and need water, try drinking hot water. it doesn't make you feel better right away.

then try cold water. you'll see why the cold temperature makes you feel better almost instantly. the cool temperature is absorbed MUCH faster

i have had a HOT whey shake before (not by choice haha)... and it was horrible. i almost threw up on the way home. it did NOT sit well at all.

RE: Cold or not (fortyfiveafter)

I was told by one of my friends who is now out of the marines, that they make you drink ice cold water because your body has to heat the ice cold water up, therefore burning more calories? Either way i like my stuff cold or room temp anyways, all i do is chug it down so i really dont mind haha.

RE: Cold or not (Soccerking3000)

i believe it was actually marc who posted that about drinking cold water

RE: Cold or not (Yet)

It's not wacky. All I do is drink cold water, and eat raw chicken and eggs. I'm HUGEE.

RE: Cold or not (optimumhealth)

Cold beverages need to be heated to be utilized by the body, this creates a thermic effect and can burn off some extra calories. This proccess isn't very time consuming so I wouldn't worry about the nutrient absorbtion. Creatine mono is absorbed better in warm fluids.

RE: Cold or not (SouLja)

I've heard both sides. Does it preserve the flavor, or does it add more protein or maby just make it more enjoyable?

I did search this BTW
