(xmax126)

didnt read through the whole post so i dont know if it was said.

keep a natural arch when doing normal working sets.

the reason you can lift more with an arched back is because of the angle. the more the arch the more the flat bench becomes like a decline bench. by changing the arch in your back you are also changing the area of your chest being worked.

have you ever seen someone arching their back on incline bench. i do everyday. people do this to up their #'s. but the very reason they are doing incline bench is to build up the upper chest. by arching their backs on incline press they might as well be doing flat bench. so why dont they skip incline altogether.

only arch your back more than normal if you are competing and trying to get the max numbers up on flat bench.

RE: I FOUND THE SOLUTION! (d4mahern)

Is it just me or does that guy look exactly like bob saget on steroids? lol. Arching the back would help i think but he really exagerates it too. If you look when hes showing his arched form at the beginning hes pushing his hands all the way to touching to flare his chest muscles up and showing the other one he keeps em far apart so teh chest doesnt get flared up. Good post though. Long live saget. Have you ever sucked d*** for coke? He has. haha great movie

RE: I FOUND THE SOLUTION! (boomersooner1331)

ORIGINAL: BodyBuildingNovice

I don't know if it's been discussed already but i just realised something interesting.

Whenever watching people benching i've noticed they would arch their back and never knew why, i though it was cause the weight would be too much for em to handle and just let them be.

Today just to give it a try I tried to arch my back to see what it does it OMG! that's it! reason why people arch their back is because it engages the chest so much more than being flat, when ur just flat (as i was doing) it does arm n shoulders pretty much, not chest. Also, trying to put ur arms parrallel to ur body when u push ups engages the chest way more i find.

Ok maybe i sound really stupid and everyone knew it, but maybe some people didn't know as i did and still wonders, well people, ARCH UR BACK

only you can prevent forests fire.

someone posted a video on this already. i'd recommend watching it. you should've probably known that curling your back engages more

RE: I FOUND THE SOLUTION! (RollingStone)

I arch pretty hard when im doing power sets for like 3 reps with real heavy weight, but when im benching for more volume and lower weight i stay pretty flat.

RE: I FOUND THE SOLUTION! Now i'm having MRI scans and all sorts of bollocks to sort them out =[
RE: I FOUND THE SOLUTION!
